RE: Short Term Disability/Long Term Disability Program

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Short Term Disability/Long Term Disability Program will begin its 3rd year August 1, 2017. Lincoln Insurance has been able to offer a lower renewal premium from thirty-eight (.38) cents to thirty-six (.36) cents and the Trustees have been able to budget the administrative fees lower to go from seven (.7) cents to four (.4) cents. With those changes to take effect August 1, 2017 the deduction will then be forty (.40) cents.

This is not an elective option to the bargaining unit member/employee beginning August 1, 2017, forty (.40) cents per hour is to be deducted from their payroll check post tax to be sent to the NW Line Benefit Fund as you do all other payments of benefits through the ePR system. The agreements that you report against in ePR will have this column for STD/LTD as it does for NEBF, NEAP, LINECO, JATC, Union Working Dues, etc. This is not an employer contribution this is a payroll deduction post tax.

You must have your payroll system set up for effective date of August 1, 2017 to begin calculating this new payroll deduction amount. August 2017 hour’s payment is due by September 15th through the ePR as all other funds are due.

Notices to the Bargaining Unit employees will be sent to them prior to August 1, 2017 to notify them of the change in deduction amount.
