INTERTANKO “Seafarers” Vetting Seminar Agenda

INTERTANKO has hosted many vetting seminars over the years aimed specifically at assisting Superintendents, CEO’s and Fleet Managers etc maintain up to date information, input and insight to the vetting and Port State Control Process.

However, this seminar in Manila is unique and is aimed specifically at providing guidance and training towards the Seafarers themselves who are the sharp end of vetting inspections.

In view of the INTERTANKO focus on Human Element related matters, the vetting committee felt that it would be prudent to produce a vetting seminar for seafaring officers (home on leave) by providing training to enhance their understanding of the vetting process, why these inspections are undertaken and to provide them with assistance in preparing for the inspection. A certificate of attendance will be provided to all the seafarers who attend, we have arranged a large venue for the event and can cater for up to 1000 delegates, (we extend our thanks to NYK for assisting us), accordingly members may send as many seafarers as they feel will benefit, please note that Attendance is Free of Charge to our members seafaring officers, the seminar is provided as a service of INTERTANKO membership.

We hope to confirm a key note address by a Government representative of the Philippines, we strongly encourage members to send their seafarers for this unique half day event, senior officers (deck and engine) will benefit from attending but also junior ranks and petty officers, will gain an insight to the whole vetting process and be better prepared by attending the seminar.

The seminar will be chaired by the INTERTANKO Vetting Committee Chairman; (Capt. Bob Bishop), presentations will be provided by the two Vice-Chairmen of the Vetting Committee: Capt Michael Wilson and Mr Alan Johnson, the Vetting Committee secretary Capt. Howard Snaith (INTERTANKO's Marine Director) as well as Capt David Savage from SIRE.

Please bring this to the attention of your Crewing Departments, Vetting Departments and Manning Agencies

All we ask is that members provide us with a list of your officers’ names that will be attending on the attached registration sheet which will enable us to provide adequate administration and certification on completion of the seminar
