JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL INFORMATION

Title: Bronzefield Resettlement Coordinator

Job Base: Islington, London

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Reports To: WIP/LWC Resettlement Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The WIP/LWC Resettlement Coordinator will co-ordinate Resettlement Services for women in HMP Bronzefield prison returning to London under license including the new RAR licenses, the role will include:

 Coordinating and facilitating the delivery of TTG services provided by members of London Women’s Consortium for all women in HMP Bronzefield returning to London.  Providing line management to WIP Through the Gate (TTG) workers.  To ensure that all LWC partners delivering the Resettlement services within HMP Bronzefield, are adhering to completing specified Resettlement plans and services  Developing and maintaining effective operational relationships with prison staff including senior Governors, CRC staff, LWC partners, voluntary providers, external criminal justice and other statutory agencies, as well as relevant community organisations  To take lead in building workshop schedules ,oversee and ensure regular group deliver by partner organisations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. SERVICE AND STAFF MANAGEMENT

1.1 To co-ordinate and be responsible for the day-to-day, operational management of WIP/LWC Resettlement TTG services for all women leaving HMP Bronzefield.

1.2 To provide regular, structured line management support to WIP TTG workers including induction programmes, monthly supervision sessions and annual appraisals in line with WIP’s policies and procedures.

1.3 To network widely and work in partnership with relevant external agencies including prison staff, Community Rehabilitation Company (CRC), London Women’s Consortium member organisations and participate in criminal justice and other multi-agency networks to raise awareness of WIP/LWC services for women leaving HMP Bronzefield and prompt

1 improved responses to the specific needs of women affected by the criminal justice system.

1.4 To develop expertise in and act as a source of specialist advice to both statutory and voluntary sector organisations working with women affected by the Criminal Justice System in particular regarding the new RAR licensing conditions.

1.5 To develop and build group working schedules with LWC partners ensuring the delivery of group work programmes for women in prison addressing tenancy maintenance, debt and finance management, Domestic/sexual violence and Education and Employment.

1.6 To oversee and implement all administrative, recording and monitoring systems for the Resettlement Services in HMP Bronzefield in line with, funding requirements and WIP’s internal policies and procedures

1.7 To represent the needs and experiences of women affected by the Criminal Justice System on an operational level with external policy-makers and provider agencies, providing specific knowledge and expertise relating to the impact of imprisonment upon women in London.

2. CLIENT CARE

2.1 To ensure all women returning to London receive an initial assessment, information and signposting and TTG service.

2.2 To undertake HMP Bronzefield audits in order to ensure advice and assessment services for women returning to London, are at all times in conjunction with WIP/LWC Through the Gate Worker.

2.3 To act as a source of specialist advice and support to the project team regarding complex issues that might arise from their work with service-users on a day to day basis.

2.4 To ensure that mechanisms are in place to obtain feed-back from service-users in a way that informs the ongoing development of the WIP/LWC Resettlement service

2.4 To ensure the effective implementation of WIP’s complaints policy within the WIP/LWC Resettlement service, ensuring that service-users are aware of complaints procedures and that all complaints are responded to in a timely manner.

3. COMMUNICATION 3.1 To develop and utilise a variety of strategies to communicate effectively with service- users, partner and external organisations, funders, prison staff, CRC and the general public.

3.2 To have overall responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective strategic partnership relationships and referral protocols with specified London women’s prisons, LWC partners, Criminal Justice Agencies, local authorities, probation services, magistrates courts, senior prison staff, senior funders, and women’s services across London.

3.3 To support the WIP/LWC Resettlement Manager in the development, planning and delivery of a training programme to front-line professionals in the London area in order to improve their organisation’s practice responses and ability to meet the needs of women at risk of or affected by the criminal justice system.

2 3.4 To ensure that an operational plan is in place to effectively liaise with and provide advice to partner organisations , other statutory and voluntary sector agencies with respect to the Through the Gate Services and specifications in license conditions including the new RAR.

3.5 To organise/attend operational forums at a local authority level with the aim of encouraging dialogue and promoting inter-generational, inter-cultural understanding of issues related to women affected by the Criminal Justice System.

3.6 To attend regular team meetings and senior management team meetings.

3.7 To establish and maintain good working relationships with other members of WIP’s staff team.

3.8 To organise and attend external meetings as appropriate actively participating and disseminating information to colleagues.

3.9 To attend HMP Bronzefield Reducing Reoffending strategic meetings and support the WIP/LWC Resettlement Manager with preparing quarterly reports to the prison.

4. INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

4.1 To ensure that all staff working within the WIP/LWC Resettlement Services in HMP Bronzefield keep an accurate account of the number of clients seen, telephone calls taken and the nature of such interactions, contributing to the maintenance of WIP/LWC service- user database.

4.2 To ensure that all staff working as part of the WIP/LWC Resettlement Services maintain accurate, confidential service-user records of interventions and contact details as per WIP protocols and procedures.

4.3 To produce reports and evaluations of work undertaken by the WIP/LWC Resettlement HMP Bronzefield Services in consultation with WIP/LWC Resettlement Manager, in response to request from funders and other key stakeholders.

4.4 To participate in the maintaining of information on relevant referral agencies and contact telephone numbers.

4.5 To ensure all client files and documentation are kept in accordance with agreed administrative systems by all staff working as part of the WIP/LWC Resettlement Services

5. PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING

5.1 To attend and prepare for regular line management meetings.

5.2 To participate in annual appraisals in accordance with WIP policy.

5.3 To attend regular clinical supervision for service-user work.

5.4 To continue to develop skills, expertise and knowledge in the management of staff and services.

5.5 To continue to develop information and communication technology (ICT) skills.

5.6 To maintain an up to date knowledge and awareness of developments in public policy and legislation regarding women offenders and related subjects by attending relevant training courses, regional and national meetings and conferences.

3 6. FURTHER INFORMATION

6.1 The post holder must at all times carry out duties and responsibilities with due regard to WIP’s equal opportunities policies and procedures.

6.2 The post holder must ensure that personal information for service-users, members of staff and all other individuals is accurate, up-to-date, kept secure and confidential at all times in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the common law duty of confidentiality.

6.3 The post holder is expected to take responsibility for self-development on a continuous basis, undertaking on-the-job and other training as required.

6.4 The post holder is required to familiarise herself with and comply with WIP’s policies and procedures.

6.5 The post holder must be aware of individual responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and identify and report as necessary any untoward accident, incident potentially hazardous environment.

6.6 The post holder will be subject to checks by the DBS and security clearance by individual women’s prisons.

This is a new post and the job description will be reviewed after six months. It may also be amended from time to time after consultation with the post holder.

Knowledge of theory and best practice responses to E A I meeting the needs of women in contact with the KNOWLEDGE criminal justice system.
