Getmapping forms new arm to handle direct sales and services

Getmapping has announced the formation of a new arm to handle its non-internet sales. Called BlueSky, the new limited company will act as Getmapping's channel for the off- line sales of Getmapping data and will support a telephone call centre. Located at Getmapping's Leicestershire site, BlueSky will also provide production and fulfilment facilities for the primary Internet business that remains at the Hartley Wintney head office.

Getmapping has seen significant growth of both its Internet sales and telephone sales, particularly in the professional and educational markets. BlueSky will be set up to handle volume production and fulfilment, such as the maintenance of the Millennium Map, which is now well into its renewal programme. This will enable the core Getmapping business to focus on sales and image delivery via the Internet, an area in which it is a world leader.

Rachel Eddy, Getmapping's current Sales and Marketing Director will head the new arm and is joined by two long term Getmapping directors, David Stubley and James Eddy.

Rachel Eddy said, "Over the last four years Getmapping and the Millennium Map have revolutionised the market for aerial photography. I look forward to working with Getmapping to continue the development of this exciting business".

Tristram Cary, Getmapping's Managing Director, said "There has been a rapid development of interest in 2D and 3D photographic data this year, and the launch of the NEXTMap Britain height data in September has further increased the number of opportunities we are pursuing. The creation of BlueSky will enable each team to focus on its respective channels to market, whilst supporting each other with complementary services".
