12th April 2016

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to the summer term! You may have noticed the large fence in the playground – it was a surprise to families and staff! The fence is the start of our development of an outdoor space for Red class. We booked Norfolk Property Services to project manage the improvements in January and they completed the fence in the Easter holiday. The next stage will be bi-fold doors to open out onto the space and then equipment, raised beds and resources to support young children with their learning. We have asked the children not to play in this area before school, at play or lunch. It will also be helpful for families from Orange and Red class to line up outside the fence when the bell goes in the morning.

Heacham Parish Council and the Queen’s Birthday To mark the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth, Heacham Parish Council is holding a birthday party in the Recreation Ground on Saturday, 11 June. In the run up to the event, we are holding a 'design a birthday card for the Queen' competition and would like to invite entries from your pupils. Please can children hand in a birthday card for the Queen to school by 1st June. The entries will be displayed in the windows of Sutton's Estate Agents and Wallis' Electrical and Bicycle shops and the winning entry will appear on the front cover of the June edition of the Heacham Newsletter with a presentation to the winner at the Birthday Party. Tracey Swann, Chairman of Community Activities Committee

Meet Sharon Simpson to find out about our lunches On 13th April Sharon Simpson (Norse Catering) will be available in our school hall at 2:15pm to talk to you about our lunches, menus and future promotions. Please come and meet her to find out more.

UPDATED Childrens University Graduation- count those stamps! We have booked a ceremony at the UEA for our children who have earned 100+ stamps! It is on 16th June 9-12am. There will be another ceremony at school for all our children who have earned over 30 stamps as Childrens University are coming to us! It will be a lovely event with squash and biscuits following the presentation in gowns. Families of all the children with 30 or more stamps will be invited.

Please can you count the stamps in your child’s book asap and inform that Amanda Ruddock has the correct number of stamps that you have achieved by 18 th April

Y2 tests in May New tests from the government will be administered during May to our Year two children. Please make sure they do not take holidays during this month. Please also be reassured that though we want our children to achieve well- the tests are not the final outcomes for childrens assessment. We make sure that the experience of completing “special workbooks” is undertaken sensitively and with the child at heart. You will be informed of your child’s final assessment in our annual report.
