T.A.G. TEAM TEENS IN ACTION GROUP

MISSION STATEMENT: Our goal is to provide opportunities to the youth of St. John Vianney Parish in seventh and eighth grade, where they will be able to socialize, participate in service outreach, and grow spiritually in a Catholic setting.

OBJECTIVES: To root all activities we coordinate in our Catholic identity through prayer & culture.

To plan and carry out activities that will include times for serving those agencies or groups of people in need here in our local community. These groups may include groups such as BETA house, Give Kids the World, Habitat for Humanity, Migrant Farm Workers Children Services, local food banks and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

To provide activities that foster positive socialization with a Catholic identity. These activities may include pizza and movie nights, open gym night, game night, and picnics.

To provide leadership development opportunities for youth in grades 6-8.

LEADERSHIP TEAM: A leadership team will be formed to organize and implement the T.A.G. Team. The members of the leadership team will be formed members of the seventh and eighth grade classes.

The following breakdown is suggested:

Student Representatives: comprised of 7th & 8th graders who are selected by the Youth Minister and Junior High Team through the application process. They will be required to complete an application, attach 2 recommendations, and show their conduct and effort grades for the present school year.

The responsibilities of Student Representatives include:  Determining events with the input of adult leaders  Promoting events to their peers  Helping to facilitate certain aspects of those events (i.e. – games, sign-in, etc.)  Being role models of proper behavior and ensuring their peers do the same Leadership Meetings will take place as needed during selected school days.

EVENT PLANNING:

Events will be determined by the leadership team. A possible breakdown is as follows:

 Give Kids the World Monthly First Friday of the Month  Fish Fry Dinners Weekly During Lent  TAG Socials TBD

The other following youth ministry special events will be offered for youth in grades 7-8:  Diocesan events (i.e. – retreats, life rallies, Catholic Day at a theme park, etc.)  Annual Middle School Lock-in

REGISTRATION: One-Time Youth may register for all TAG events (excluding special youth ministry events) at one time by completing a registration form and submitting $20 payment. Youth must still sign-up for events throughout the year and submit an event waiver, but no further payment is required. Event-By-Event If a youth does not register for all events at once, they may still sign up for events on an individual basis by submitting an event-specific waiver and an event fee (usually $5-10).
