Dear
Moorebank Intermodal Terminal Project – Market Sounding/Briefing Thank you for participating in the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal (IMT) Project Market Sounding/Briefing process held during October 2011. Your valuable contribution was used to inform the Detailed Business Case which was considered by the Australian Government in making a decision on an IMT at Moorebank, Sydney. As you may be aware, the Australian Government recently announced its commitment to progress the IMT at Moorebank, with the facility opening on the site currently housing the School of Military Engineering (SME) and other Defence Units, by mid 2017 subject to planning approval. The Detailed Business Case considered the freight capacity issues facing Sydney and recommended a response to these challenges. It identified economic and social benefits including reduced traffic congestion, reduced freight costs, greater productivity throughout the national supply chain, improved environmental outcomes and local employment. The design, construction and operation of the terminal will be undertaken by the private sector through a competitive process, in which the private sector will also be provided with an opportunity to contribute to the overall funding of the Project. For a summary of the Detailed Business Case, please click on the following link http://www.finance.gov.au/property/property/moorebank-intermodal-freight- terminal/docs/summary_dbc.pdf The Moorebank Project Office (MPO) is conducting an updated Market Sounding/Briefing during May 2012. The purpose of this Market Sounding/Briefing series is to separately brief all interested stakeholders on the advancement of the Project including its proposed implementation plan. At our last meeting, you indicated your interest in participating in further meetings, and as such, are invited to participate in this Market Sounding/Briefing. The Market Sounding/Briefing meetings will be held during the week commencing 21 May 2012. Interested parties should indicate their interest no later than Friday 11 May 2012 to Rebecca Drescher-Boulos ([email protected]). Should you have any further enquiries about the Market Sounding/Briefing, please also email Rebecca. We look forward to your participation in the Market Sounding/Briefing.
Yours sincerely,
