CALL to WORSHIP: Sing Time for God S Word (Are You Sleeping Tune)

Devotion for Week One of April:

CALL TO WORSHIP: Sing “Time for God’s Word” (Are You Sleeping tune)

Time for God’s Word! Time for God’s Word! Come and see! Come and see! We will tell of Jesus’ love! We will tell of Jesus’ love! Come and see! Come and see!

Activity: Have an adult look up Monarch Butterfly Emerging Time Lapse on the internet. Watch it with your child. See how the butterfly works itself out of the cocoon. As soon as the butterfly is free from the cocoon, it begins to flap its’ wings. In no time the butterfly is flying away to see the world! Jesus came alive on Easter Sunday! Jesus’ work of saving all people from their sins was done. The disciples were so happy to see Jesus alive again. For the next forty days Jesus spent time with his disciples. One day Jesus said, “Soon I will be going back to heaven. I have a big job for you to do while I am gone. I love all people and want them to come to heaven someday. Please go and tell every person in the world about me. Tell them I love them and died for their sins. Someday I will return. I will take the people who believe I am their Savior to heaven with me.” The disciples were surprised and afraid. How could they do all this for Jesus? The world is a big place with very many people! “Don’t be afraid to go and tell others!” Jesus said. “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 “I will always be at your side. I will send the Holy Spirit to help you.” The disciples loved Jesus. He had taken the punishment for their sins. With “butterfly hearts” free from sin, the disciples willingly went into the world to tell others about Jesus! **Whenever you see a butterfly flying about, think of how Jesus freed you from sin! Share the news with others! **

Prayer for the end of the devotion: Adult: To my dear family living in my home. Child: Come and see, Jesus! Adult: To my neighbors living nearby. Child: Come and see, Jesus! Adult: To people living far away from me who I don’t know. Child: Come and see, Jesus! Adult: To all people who do not know Jesus is their Savior. Child: Come and see, Jesus! Amen.

Song to sing at the end of the devotion: (Sing to the tune of Do - Re - Mi from “Sound of Music” - Doe a Deer, a Female Deer) Don’t you know that Jesus died? Raised again in three short days. Me, the one for whom he died, Far away he took my sin. So, I love him even more! Love, I never knew before! “T”, the cross on Calvary, Don’t you know Jesus died for me, Alleluia…Don’t (Sing over again)
