Centre for Wellbeing Workshop Programme Autumn 2011

Relaxation ‘To Go’ Take time out of your day to relax. This session will explore different techniques to support the body’s natural relaxation response including breathing and meditation, guided visualisation, body scan and much more. Find out which way is right for you. Book online. Feel Good, Live Well Wondering how you can live a more satisfying life? We have pooled the collective wisdom of CWB staff and created this 3 week course out of what we consider to be the most important key ideas and skills for increasing wellbeing, understanding ourselves and creating positive change. We will have 3 new intakes throughout the semester. Book online. Poetry Reading Group Feed the soul – and bring your lunch! Read published poems in a relaxed and friendly group. No knowledge or experience of poetry is necessary at all, just a willingness to explore. Please note that this workshop is held in the English Department Room 55AC05. Book online. Build your Self Esteem Treating ourselves with understanding and appreciation can help us stay happier, weather life’s difficulties and realise goals. This group will offer support & practical ways to build self-esteem and increase our satisfaction with life. Before booking please make sure that you can attend all 5 sessions. Book online. Exploring Happiness Most of us rate happiness as the most important thing in life – but we don’t often get to reflect on what it actually means for us, and how we can foster it. This course will help participants to reflect on their own experience and to apply principles and practices which have been shown to help increase contentment and positive emotion. Please make sure you’re able to attend all 6 sessions. Book online. This introductory course is largely experiential and will involve some meditation. Please ensure that you can attend all 4 sessions before booking. You will be invited to attend a brief one to one meeting with the facilitator before the course begins. Book online. Finding Your Voice in Groups Do you get anxious about talking in study or social groups? Or does the thought of giving a presentation give you nightmares? If either or both of these applies, you’ll have the opportunity in this group to learn skills and techniques and practise them in a supportive atmosphere to find you own unique voice in groups. What will Mindfulness do for me? A taster session to find out about an approach to life and stress that has gained huge popularity over recent years.
