Vaccinations

This is a very biased article against standard medical vaccinations; so if you think they're great, don't read another word! You may want to take a look at the United States Vaccine Injury Compensation Program web site, www.hrsa.gov/bhpr/vicp, and ask yourself why are the victims prohibited from suing the makers of vaccines which hurt them and why are vaccines such an uninsurable risk that the Federal Government has to provide a compensation program for the injured?

Do vaccines work?

To demonstrate their "efficacy," let's talk about the DPT vaccination (diphtheria, pertussis or whooping cough and tetanus). This vaccine produces the most serious adverse reactions that run the gamut from localized skin reactions, to seizure, brain inflammation, mental retardation and death. Fisher and Coulter, co-authors of DPT: A Shot in the Dark, reported alarming statistics. Based on an infant population of 3.3 million per year, 4,248 children have either post-injection convulsions or collapse; 18,873 children have some kind of significant neurological reaction within two days of the injection, 11,666 children have long-term, perhaps permanent damage and 943 children die. That's a total of 35,730 damaged children or 1.08%. Insignificant you say, until one of these 35,730 children is your child.

Barbara Fisher, whose son suffered permanent brain damage within hours of his fourth DPT shot considered these figures highly significant. Her son suffered a classic collapse/shock reaction to pertussis which she first thought was the flu. Months later it became obvious to her that the DPT shot had caused something. Her son forgot his alphabet, became hyperactive, emotionally fragile, lost weight, developed chronic diarrhea, lung infections and allergies. Her once precocious child had, in fact suffered a mild encephalopathy which left him "with minimal brain damage, multiple learning disabilities and an impaired immune system."

Richard Moscowitz, M.D., a homeopath, reported in Health Consciousness Magazine (Vol. 2, No. 3, December 1986) that he has used homeopathic DPT nosode to successfully treat numerous children with DPT- related chronic complaints, such as recurrent fevers, irritability, temper tantrums, increased incidence of colds, tonsillitis and ear infections. If your child is up for ear tubes after recurrent ear infections and has had DPT, consider this therapy before getting the ear tubes. Traditional homeopathy uses Thuja for vaccine reactions.

At the end of another article in the San Jose Mercury, July 12, 1991, describing the death of a 3-month- old baby less than 24 hours after receiving a DPT shot the standard comment was made: "the DPT shot...has been suspected in rare instances of causing severe allergic reactions and even brain damage. But most doctors still say the benefits of being immunized outweigh the risk." On July 25, 1991 in the same newspaper I read about the "campaign to get kids vaccinated" in which there will be an effort to vaccinate "at-risk" children in nine cities during National Immunization Week, September 21-29.

Are the DPT and other vaccines worth the risk? I should think that if they were worth the risk, these shots would be over 50% effective in immunizing from the disease and that they would be tested for safety and purity. Are they? DPT has never been tested for safety or purity. Its artificially induced immunity 2

(which varies from 50% according to some and 94% according to others) lasts only 2-5 years. I don't believe that latter figure. A 1988 Center of Disease Control (CDC) report revealed that 46% of 795 infants 3-6 months of age with pertussis HAD BEEN FULLY VACCINATED. Does this sound to you like the vaccine is effective?

In the 1970's, DPT vaccinations declined in Europe AND SO DID THE DEATH RATES FROM WHOOPING COUGH. For example, there were 25 deaths in 1974 with an 80% vaccination rate and 23 deaths in 1977 with a 30% vaccination rate. A little-noticed 1978 study at the UCLA Medical Center reported that one in every 700 children (14%) suffered convulsion or shock following the DPT vaccination. So is the vaccine worth the risk? I am speaking as the mother of two unvaccinated children who survived whooping cough, chicken pox and measles. I believe in the ability of the body to heal itself and in doing so, creating a stronger immune system which can then be passed off genetically to the progeny.

There are doctors who agree with me. Two of them, the late Robert Mendelsohn, M.D. and Richard Moskowitz, M.D., believe that vaccines weaken the immune system and that there is a causal link between vaccines, chronic degenerative and auto-immune diseases. Moskowitz argues that vaccination may produce immune-suppression and chronic immune failure. He says that an artificially weakened virus (whether it's dead or half-dead) cannot initiate a generalized, acute inflammatory response. Instead it tricks the body into an antibody response which is "an isolated technical feat" and only ONE aspect of a natural immune response involving the WHOLE ORGANISM.

Vaccination, Moskowitz argues, substitutes a weak chronic response for the vigorous one created by nature with a resulting diminished tendency for the body to heal itself spontaneously. Even more frightening is his theory that the vaccine virus (and other unidentified viral goodies) may permanently persist in the body. When activated again, the body's response is to attack itself - an autoimmune response.

Dr. Robert Mendelsohn said that vaccinations are a "medical time bomb" and cites DPT as being the worst. He said that the greatest threat of childhood diseases is in the dangerous and ineffectual efforts made to prevent them through mass immunizations. Are vaccines pure?

Let's assume that all vaccines are 100% effective, which means that they do the job of immunizing against the particular unwanted disease. Would I rush out and vaccinate my children? No way! Why ? Because there is no such thing as a PURE vaccine. All of them are contaminated and this contamination creates the risk of a disease, sometimes one worse than the disease prevented by the vaccine.

How pure is the Pertussis vaccine? The Panel on Review of Bacterial Vaccines and Toxoids with Standards of Potency stated the following in the minutes of their 15th meeting: "Pertussis vaccine is a relatively crude preparation that contains the majority of the bacterial constituents, most of which are probably not relevant to the induction. Mendelsohn, an expert witness in law cases dealing with children damaged by vaccines reported on this in Health Freedom News, August 1982.

In a July 1987 Health Freedom News article, Eva Lee Snead, M.D., reported that tens of millions of Americans were given the polio vaccine contaminated with the Simian virus-40 virus. Detection of the excreted virus following administration of the contaminated polio vaccine was reported by Horvath in 3

1964. This virus causes leukemia and other forms of cancer including brain cancer and "a clinical syndrome indistinguishable from AIDS", said Snead in the same article.

Did you know that the AIDS virus may have been introduced to Americans through its contamination of the Hepatitis-B vaccine, and to the entire continent of Africa through similar contamination of the small- pox vaccine? Vaccine-contamination has resulted in a world-wide epidemic. This was reported by William C. Douglass, M.D., in his newsletter, The Cutting Edge and by other scientists and doctors as well.

The third edition of the Fundamentals of General, Organic and Biological Chemistry, states that there is evidence that the mumps virus AND the vaccine against mumps can trigger the onset of type I diabetes in some people.

Douglass stated in The Spotlight (March 21, 1988) and in The Cutting Edge, that two studies have found a causal association between the German measles (Rubella) vaccine and chronic fatigue syndrome (also called Epstein Barr disease). Is this worth the vaccination when 80% of children vaccinated against Rubella will later come down with the disease, asks Douglass? Why are we so afraid of Rubella, the mildest of all the illnesses for which vaccines are currently available, asks Richard Moskowitz in a 1987 Mothering Magazine article on unvaccinated children. Why not let ALL children get the disease at an age where pregnancy in females cannot endanger the life of the unborn child

Douglass wonders whether vaccines merely change childhood diseases into more dangerous adult diseases. By preventing children from getting a common childhood disease are we merely putting it off to adulthood when we are less able to handle it? For example, measles has made a strong comeback in American colleges since 1988, in spite of the fact that according to the Public Health Service, 98% of America's first graders have been vaccinated. Eighty percent of these cases are now occurring in people aged 10-19 with atypical and often unrecognized symptoms, such as pneumonia, edema and severe pain.

Are safe, effective vaccines possible?

YES! (Fooled you didn't I!). In fact, I'll tell you about the only one I know about that is safe, effective and complimentary to the immune system. It was developed some forty years ago by the late Dr. Virginia Livingston-Wheeler, a pioneer in non-toxic cancer therapies. In the 1960's, Dr. Livingston discovered a microbe she named Progenitor Cryptocides (PC). Because PC can be found in the placenta of pregnant women AND in cancerous tumor cells, she called it "the microbe of life and death." PC converts to a hormone called Human Choriogonadotropin (HCG) which repairs tissues in healthy people AND feeds cancer cells in sick people.

Dr. Livingston developed an autogenous vaccine from PC derived from the patient's own tissues, which she then gave back to the patient. Oops! Early in 1990, the FDA confiscated her vaccine, despite years of documented scientific research proving its effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. Meanwhile, scientific research to prove its effectiveness and safety continues, a tribute to her genius.

One final comment. Many people ask about the link between vaccinations and the decrease in acute infectious diseases. In fact, there is no link. If you look at the statistics of the decrease in acute infectious diseases you will see a steady decline starting in the 1750's and continuing until the present day. Yet vaccinations did not begin until the 1900's, after infectious diseases had been declining for 150 years! Douglass has a neat little graph showing this in this January 1988 Cutting Edge. This report is merely a tip of the many icebergs on vaccinations. But I believe I have described why we should be skeptical about vaccination claims. 4
