Instructions for Submitting Applications: 1) Complete and sign the attached application form. Use extra sheets for any responses, if needed. 2) The following MUST be submitted with the application: a) A copy of high school transcripts listing Grade Point Average (GPA) (Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA). b) Two letters supporting the character, achievements and potential for education and career advancement of the applicant. One of the letters MUST be from a school official (principal, counselor, teacher, etc.). The other letter must be from someone with significant knowledge of the applicant (minister, coach, employer, etc.).

General Information: 1) Applications and support documents must be received by April 15, 2014. It is the responsibility of the applicant to submit the application form with appropriate transcript and letters as one complete package. Transcripts or letters submitted without an application will not be considered.

2) All applicants must graduate no later than June 30, 2014.

3) Applicants must be a current resident of the town of Wytheville or Wythe County and must attend Fort Chiswell High School, Rural Retreat High School or George Wythe High School.

4) Funds are to be utilized beginning with the Fall Semester 2014 school year.

5) Finalists and the grantees will be selected by the Scholarship Committee.

6) The scholarship grantees will be announced in May 2014.

7) Scholarship funds ($1,000) will be forwarded to the school as a one-time scholarship to be used for all relevant educational purposes. This will include tuition, books and supplies, room and board, fees, etc. Please note: If attending Wytheville Community College, the scholarship may be applied to tuition only.

8) The recipient of the award must attend an accredited university, college, vocational, technical or business school. By submitting this application, I authorize my high school to make available to the Scholarship committee of the Wythe Regional Housing Scholarship, information concerning my academic record. It is understood that award of the scholarship shall be governed by any and all conditions established by the committee.

Applicant and parent or guardian understand and agree that submission of the applicant’s application and subsequent photo(s) taken by WRHA will become sole property of the Wytheville Redevelopment and Housing Authority (WRHA). WRHA will have exclusive and full right to copy, reproduce and distribute the application and any subsequent photos in connections with its Scholarship contest. Applicant and parent or guardian hereby release and discharge WRHA and any of its associated or affiliated companies, their directors, officers, agents, employees and customers and appointed advertising agencies, their directors, officers, agents and employees from all claims of every kind on account of such use.
