Treadwell Elementary School Home/School Compact 2010-2011

This compact has been jointly developed and agreed upon by the staff and parents of Treadwell Elementary in order to outline how parents/school/staff students will share responsibility for improving student academic achievement.

PRINCIPAL/SCHOOL AGREEMENT

As principal of Treadwell Elementary, I support this form for parental involvement. Therefore, I shall strive to do the following:

 Provide an environment that allows for positive communication between the teacher, parents, and students.  Encourage teachers to regularly provide homework assignments that will reinforce classroom instruction.  Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables students to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards.  Hold annual parent/teacher meetings/conferences to discuss the compact and how it relates to student achievement.  Provide students with a supportive and effective learning environment to enhance student academic achievement.  Provide parents with reasonable access to staff, to volunteer, participate, and observe in their child’s classroom.  Provide programs and activities that will help parents be responsible for supporting their child’s learning.

PARENT/GUARDIAN AGREEMENT

As the parent/guardian of a Treadwell Elementary student and a stakeholder in the education of my child, I commit to the following:

 Ensure that my child is punctual and attends school regularly, prepared and dressed in the proper uniform.  Support the school in its efforts to maintain proper discipline.  Establish a time for homework and review it regularly.  Provide opportunities and encourage opportunities for conference and communication with my child’s teachers before, during, or after school.  Discuss with parents the Home/School Compact in relationship to their child’s achievement.

TEACHER AGREEMENT

It is important that students achieve therefore, I shall do the following:

 Provide regular homework assignments to reinforce classroom instruction.  Provide and encourage opportunities for conferences and communication with parents before, during, or after school.  Encourage parents and students by providing information about student progress using student progress reports.  Use special activities in the classroom to make learning enjoyable.  Discuss with parents the Home/School Compact in relationship to their child’s achievement.

STUDENT AGREEMENT

It is important that I work to the best of my ability. Therefore, I strive to do the following:

 Attend school regularly.  Come to school each day with paper, pencil, and other necessary materials as required by my teacher.  Complete class work assignments.  Complete and return homework assignments  Follow all school and classroom rules
