With the recent introduction of more entertaining players - Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, the resurgent Joe Root, Gary Ballance Trott with several more higher gears , Ben Stokes - it might become easier to forget Pietersen quicker than he imagines. Lists with This Book. But I just sat back and laughed at the opposition, with their swearing and 'traitor' remarks In that series he made 90 not out and got 2—22 with the ball. No trivia or quizzes yet. C'mon Kevin this is an autobiography not a case study on the behaviour of Andy Flower and Matt Prior. Aug 23, John rated it did not like it. Night of the LongWinded. I am just fortunate that I am able to hit it a bit further. Showing He edged his fifth ball to Chamara Silva at slip, who flicked the ball up for wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara to complete the catch. He had a good partnership with Andrew Flintoff where the pair put on very quickly. Retrieved on 5 June Kevin Pietersen is without doubt one of the most gifted players of his generation. Andrew Strauss is respected but also portrayed as a deluded, fogeyish figure. To some extent, he was certainly his own worst enemy. In the second innings, Pietersen was dropped on 0 by a combination of Gilchrist and Hayden , on 15 by his Hampshire colleague Shane Warne and after reaching fifty on 60 by Shaun Tait. Oct 13, Andrew rated it really liked it. The decision puzzled many observers - although the England team had failed miserably in the Ashes tour of , Kevin was the tourists' leading run scorer across the series, and he remains the country's highest run scorer of all time across all formats of the game. After a qualifying period of four years playing at English county level, he was called up almost immediately for his international debut against Zimbabwe in He did not at this stage contemplate forsaking his nation; it had not yet occurred to him that the decision would have to be taken. The fact that these cricket pygmies implemented a six-month gagging order - thus ensuring its publication at a time of year when book publishing is at its peak profile; gifting Pietersen time to assemble a well-argued, if trenchant page complaint against them; building anticipation amongst the people funding their sport for what would be said; and allowing Pietersen to get his affairs in order with Surrey CCC in order to avoid any repercussions - says as much about their ability to communicate with "the fans" as does their backwards attitude to Twitter represented in the book itself. He bashes the same guys one too many times that it starts to get boring towards the second half of the book. Comment 0. A revised and updated version of Stead's book, now titled 'KP — The Biography' , which brought his story up-to-date, was published in July Retrieved 30 May But it is a genuine portrayal of his true feelings. KP - the Biography of Kevin Pietersen Writer It's evident in your prose that you were a rebellion, but not the kind I had looked up for, from the guy who will hold an innings together by attacking the opponent all the way. I must admit that KP's book, like his batting, is one cracker of a read - very entertaining, hilarious and even insightful. He has put himself on a pedestal and no body or no thing is going to remove him. In the second innings, he was criticised for his dismissal. And how KP became a victim and a scapegoat to cover up the Ashes Whitewash. He made his th Test appearance in the first Test. Retrieved 4 February Retrieved 12 February Pietersen described this as his best century, in very testing conditions. I have seen him play and he has an excellent understanding of the game and what he can do with the bat and ball, particularly the bat. Eoin Morgan was named in the squad but withdrew after injury; Ravi Bopara was called up as a replacement. Do read to get a better insight on the 'Textgate' and other related controversies. The tour of Zimbabwe caused several players to voice their concerns about the Robert Mugabe regime, the security issues in the country and the standard of the Zimbabwean side. After the game we spoke in the dressing room and then I went to have dinner. The English cricket board clearly needed his talent desperately but seemed to be aggrieved that this was the case - they definitely did not enjoy his personality. Archived from the original on 31 December Pietersen joined the England Ashes squad in June for the upcoming Ashes series. A giod enjoyable read. He also calls for the wide law to be adjusted in one-day cricket, as bowlers are penalised for most deliveries that pass down the leg side. This is a classic in sports autobiographies and I highly recommend it to get a glimpse into the life of one of England's top cricketers. Many times it is hard not to come to the conclusion that this form of naivety, or even a mildly utopian point of view, is exactly why he was unable to change more minds in English cricket. England were defeated in the first, however the team recovered to draw the second with Pietersen scoring Chris Tremlett replaced the injured Stuart Broad mid-way through the group stage. Did some "side research" and his claims of locker room discontent, cliqueness and bullying, certainly seem to hold up. Though Pietersen scored 97 in the first innings of the first Test, West Indies had a lead of 74 and England were bowled out for 51 with Pietersen making only one being bowled by an out-swinger by Jerome Taylor as England collapsed to an innings defeat. The book is an eye-opener, from outside it all seems normal, but when you brood over details, you realize how harsh people were with him. KP: The Autobiography presents itself as the first genuinely open, unblinkered version of a series of events that have proved horribly rancorous and upsetting for those who love English cricket and English cricketers and who treasure the sport as a spectacle. He talks openly about his intense relationship with coach Andy Flower. Retrieved 2 August After making 41 in the first innings, Pietersen scored his 10th Test century in the third and final Test at the Oval, helping England to draw the game with The decision puzzled many observers - although the England team had failed miserably in the Ashes tour of , Kevin was the tourists' leading run scorer across the series, and he remains the country's highest run scorer of all time across all formats of the game. However there is a limit. Thanks for telling us about the problem. There was a lot of noise surrounding this book, with KP appearing on TV and others scurrying around supporting or challenging the views he espouses herein.

Pakistan claimed the honours in the dress rehearsal for the final with a memo- rable victory over the world champions in a dramatic day/night encounter at Trent Bridge on Tuesday. The game lived up to its billing right from the onset as Saeed Anwar and Saleem Elahi tore into the Australia attack. Elahi was in particularly impressive form, blast- ing 79 from 91 balls as Pakistan plundered 290 from their 50 overs. But, never wanting to be outdone, the Australians responded in fine style with Adam Gilchrist attacking the Pakistan bowling with equal relish. The wicketkeep- er sensationally raced to his 20th one-day international half-century in just 29 balls on his way to a quick-fire 70. Once Saqlain Mushtaq had ended his 44-ball knock however, skipper Waqar Younis stepped up to take the game by the scruff of the neck. CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY POSTAL AUCTION CLOSING AT NOON 10th JULY 2020 Conditions of Postal Sale The CMS reserves the right to refuse items which are damaged or unsuitable, or we have doubts about authenticity. Reserves can be placed on lots but must be agreed with the CMS. They should reflect realistic values/expectations and not be the “highest price” expected. The CMS will take 7% of the price realised, the vendor 93% which will normally be paid no later than 6 weeks after the auction. The CMS will undertake to advertise the memorabilia for auction on its website no later than 3 weeks prior to the closing date of the auction. Bids will only be accepted from CMS members. Postal bids must be in writing or e-mail by the closing date and time shown above. Generally, no item will be sold below 10% of the lower estimate without reference to the vendor.. Thus, an item with a £10-15 estimate can be sold for £9, but not £8, without approval. The incremental scale for the acceptance of bids is as follows: £2 increments up to £20, then £20/22/25/28/30 up to £50, then £5 increments to £100 and £10 increments above that. So, if there are two postal bids at £25 and £30, the item will go to the higher bidder at £28. Should there be two identical bids, the first received will win. Bids submitted between increments will be accepted, thus a £52 bid will not be rounded either up or down. Items will be sent to successful postal bidders the week after the auction and will be sent by the cheapest rate commensurate with the value and size of the item.

  • Legality of the Nottingham Test Ian Bell‟S Controversial Run Out
Legality of the Nottingham Test Ian Bell‟s controversial run out dismissal on the third day of the Nottingham test which was subsequently revoked will be remembered in years to come more than the drubbing Indian team received at the hands of his team. It has divided right in the middle the whole cricketing fraternity on the issue of “spirit of cricket”. Did Dhoni & co. do the correct thing by withdrawing the appeal? Were Strauss and Flower right in approaching the Indian captain to persuade him to do the same? Whether what happened was morally correct or not has been discussed by everyone from the television commentators, cricketing icons to the school going kids in the streets of Mumbai. Some may even have discussed the role of umpires in this whole incident. But I have serious doubts over the legality of the cricket that was played subsequent to this event in that test match. This is what the ICC law 27.8 says about the withdrawal of an appeal: “The captain of the fielding side may withdraw an appeal only if he obtains the consent of the umpire within whose jurisdiction the appeal falls. He must do so before the outgoing batsman has left the field of play. If such consent is given, the umpire concerned shall, if applicable, revoke his decision and recall the batsman.” The first clause in this law is very clear. The withdrawal of the appeal was done with the consent of the umpires Asad Rauf and Marais Erasmus, which is certainly in accordance with the law.
