In The Heat of the Night Novel Study Unit Outline

You will read the novel In the Heat of the Night and complete several tasks to build and show your understanding of the text.

 Historical Background – You will create a multimedia presentation demonstrating your understanding of the civil rights movement.  Reading – You will keep up with reading and take notes or use post-its as you go of important events and quotations.  Chapter Questions – You will be assigned and/or quizzed on chapter questions.  Newspaper Assignment – You will write a newspaper article based on events in the novel.  Graphic Text Assignment – You will create a graphic text demonstrating your knowledge of the novel.  Literary Essay – You will plan, write, revise and edit a literary essay analyzing the novel.
