INFORMATION NOTE

1. Organization, venue and dates of the seminar

The Air Traffic Control Operations and Safety Seminar/Workshop will be organized in Dakar, by the AFI Comprehensive Implementation Programme (ACIP), the Agence pour la Sécurité de la Navigation Aérienne en Afrique et Madagascar (ASCENA) and the ICAO Regional Office in Dakar (WACAF), from 10 – 13 August 2009. The seminar will be held in the conference room of ASCENA in Dakar.

2. Registration

The participants are requested to pre-register by filling the attached registration form and sending by fax or email to the organizers. Based on the duly completed pre-registration forms received by the organizers, name badges will be issued on site. Participants will be required to reconfirm their registration at the registration desk of the meeting on 9 August 2009 (14:00 – 18:00) and between 08:00 and 09:00 am, during the first day of the seminar/workshop.

3. Opening Session

The official opening of the Air Traffic Control Operations and Safety Seminar/Workshop will take place on 10 August at 09.00 a.m. The formal workshop/seminar will be held daily from 09.00 a.m.

4. Languages

The seminar/workshop will be carried in English and French.

5. Hotel Information

A list of recommended hotels is attached herewith. Participants are requested to make booking directly at the hotels. The tariffs should be confirmed when making reservation.

6. Visas

Entry visa in Senegal is a required for participants who are not from the Economic Community of West African States (CEDEAO). To this effect, participants are requested to obtain appropriate visa from Senegal Embassies in their own country before departure.

In case of any difficulty, participants are requested to consult the Regional Office in Dakar which will help them obtain visa upon arrival, to the following address:

7. Health

Presentation of yellow fever certificate at the point of entry is highly required. Visitors from countries affected by Cholera should carry a valid vaccination certificate against cholera.

8. Local Currency and Foreign Exchanges Rates

The official currency is Franc CFA (1US$= 512 FCFA). Participants are encouraged to exchange currency in the bank.

9. Local Transport

L'Aéroport international Léopold Sédar Senghor de Dakar est situé à environ 15 km du centre ville. Les taxis sont disponibles à tout moment. Le tarif de taxi de l'aéroport au centre-ville est de 4,000 FCFA le jour et est affiché à l'arrivée.

10. Electrical Supply

The electrical out is 220/240 V, 50 Hz.
