Member/Guest: This quarter’s Member/Guest game will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday. November 1st. Brad Walden is organizing this event, so if you know of a “party bridge” player who has not played duplicate or at least has not played duplicate in some time, please invite him/her to play with you or just to come to the event and play with one of our players. Brad would like to have some information about the new player, so ask him for a card to fill out before the November 1 game.

November 2011 Calendar Highlights:- The club will be closed on November 24th for the Thanksgiving holiday. November 20th – 8 is Enough will be a National Charity Championship SWISS TEAM game for $1 more. Thursday nights - Pizza Potluck Partners game for the 99’ers. November 28th - 6:30 ACBL-WIDE Stratified Charity Game – OPEN to all - $1 more.
Sectional Tournament at Club - Mark your calendars for a ST@C week that has been added to the Calendar next month to support the Mid-West Monitor. Dates: December 26th thru Jan.1, 2012. All points earned in ST@C games are silver points just like those given at a Sectional Tournament.
Memorial Games We recently had a question about the local memorial charity games, and since we have many new players, it is a good time to explain. When one of our players or his/her spouse or child passes away, we hold a memorial pot luck charity game. We charge $1 more to be presented to the deceased’s favorite charity or one chosen by his/her immediate family. The club also awards triple the number of points to the winners of these Memorial Games. Any player may choose to withhold his/her extra dollar if he/she objects to the deceased’s chosen charity or donate funds above and beyond the normal $1, however in doing so, the player must advise the director in order that the club can pass on the correct dollar amount to that charity. It is also important to note that when the club holds a charity game that is not a memorial, the charities are not religious in nature but will be a civic, humanitarian or animal shelter charity with a 501(C)(3) tax exemption. These gifts are all reported on the Club’s annual non-profit tax return which, by law, is available for public inspection.
And while we’re on the subject of explanations for new players, you will notice that on the results wall, there are three reports that are posted monthly: MINI-MCKENNEY: The annual Mini-McKenney masterpoint races are won by the member from each masterpoint category who earns the most total masterpoints during the year. ACE OF CLUBS: The annual Ace of Clubs masterpoint races are won by the player from each masterpoint category through Diamond Life Master who earns the most masterpoints in club games during the year. MASTER OF CLUB: The Master of Club race is local to our club and the winner is the person who earns the most masterpoints in games at the Lexington Bridge Club only.
The Louisville/Lexington Regional Tournament – is being held at the Horseshoe Casino in Southern Indiana from Monday, November 7th through Sunday November 13th. The Ft. Knox Gold Rush Pairs have been added to this year's schedule for all of you in search of GOLD! Our club will remain open during that period. If you are attending the tournament, remember that Tuesday, November 8th is Election Day. So please get an absentee ballot and vote before leaving for the tournament.
Thanks from Lynn Frederick On a personal note, many thanks for the cards and expressions of sympathy on the passing of my sister, Lyle Zunker. You are the kindest most caring group of people I have ever met, and I am proud to call you friends.
