Reports to Senior Manager Income Development and Marketing
Position objective The Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the marketing activities of the ABA nationally, maximising and identifying income opportunities from fundraising, sponsorship, advertising and membership. They will communicate and promote the work of the Association and drive membership recruitment and retention programs. Working with the Senior Manager Income Development and Marketing they will implement and deliver the Association’s fundraising program.
Requirements of the position Essential requirements
. Experience within a similar membership, marketing, fundraising or selling role . Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with a range of people including stakeholders, donors, sponsors, consumers, health professionals, staff and volunteers. . Demonstrated exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and an ability to successfully handle and prioritise multiple tasks and to meet deadlines within agreed timelines. . High level interpersonal and communication skills (online and offline, written and verbal) . Enthusiastic, positive and self-motivated, with a strong capacity to show initiative . Ability to work autonomously and as part of team . Working knowledge of MS Office applications, internet and email . Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing successful marketing programs . Experience in producing marketing and fundraising collateral, both print and electronic, including strong copy writing skills . . Skilled in media relations, including writing of media releases and articles . Experience using a website Content Management System (CMS) and an electronic direct mailing system.
Knowledge . Good knowledge of MS Office applications . Working knowledge of graphic design and photo editing software highly regarded . Working knowledge of e-marketing and website software highly regarded . An understanding of how not-for-profit organisations operate and the membership issues they face
Qualifications . Tertiary qualifications in marketing or a related discipline – highly regarded . At least 3 years’ relevant work experience in a similar role
Key responsibilities 1. Membership a. In consultation with the Senior Manger Income Development and Marketing, implement the ABA membership strategy. b. Review the membership strategy and all marketing collateral on an ongoing basis c. Co-ordinate and implement membership: c.i. marketing, promotion and publicity projects c.ii. direct mail/email programs and website membership pages c.iii. membership renewal and reactivation programs c.iv. membership events c.v. prospecting activities
2. Marketing a. In consultation with the Senior Manager Income Development and Marketing develop and implement ABA a.i. Marketing, promotion and publicity projects a.ii. marketing collateral b. Actively seek opportunities to promote ABA membership, programs and services in line with ABA’s objectives.
3. Communication a. Provide marketing and communication assistance and direction to ABA volunteers, branches, groups and PR personnel b. Coordinate national digital communications with ABA members, including monthly member eNewsletters, social media posts and campaign driven initiatives c. Ensure accurate and timely communication of upcoming marketing activities to relevant stakeholders d. Communicate frequently with ABA team managers on relevant marketing issues

e. Contribute to all relevant ABA publications, both print and electronic, to ensure marketing activities are well communicated and brand alignment is paramount for ABA members and volunteers f. Coordinate ABA’s monthly member eNewsletters by sourcing relevant new items, designing, preparing copy, proofreading and scheduling distribution g. Monitor incoming communication to the ABA head office and follow up on relevant opportunities for promotion h. Ensure fundraising information is regularly updated on the Association’s websites. 4. Finances a. Working with the Income Development & Marketing team to ensure the advertising sales budget is met by selling and scheduling advertising (print and online) b. Identify and action other sales opportunities c. Work with the CEO and Senior Manager Income Development and Marketing to ensure the sponsorship budget is met; work with sponsors to implement sponsorship plans d. Contribute to membership growth and budget KPIs by developing and implementing marketing initiatives, in consultation with the Senior Manager Income Development and the ABA Membership Working Group e. Contribute to fundraising activities such as direct mail appeals, community fundraising initiatives and the ABA raffle by providing relevant and timely advice and collateral.
5. Community and Media Relations Work with the Senior Manager Income Development and Marketing to:
a. Plan and co-ordinate ABA’s awareness week activities (National Mothering Week and World Breastfeeding Week) in consultation with the relevant ABA manager and working groups b. Write media releases and articles on relevant topics for submission to both print and electronic media c. Develop and maintain relationships with external organisations to assist with community and media relations d. Position the ABA as the leading not-for-profit working with mothers and their infants; and as the experts in breastfeeding e. Identify opportunities to enhance the image and public’s knowledge of ABA and our work f. Ensure all marketing activities are in accordance with Australian Breastfeeding Association’s national image.
6. Administration a. Prepare an annual marketing and communication plan (in line with the ABA strategic plan), in consultation with the Senior Manager Income Development and relevant team managers b. Keep accurate, timely records and reports of all marketing activities c. Ensure files and records are kept accurately, current or archived appropriately d. Assist the Senior Manager Income Development and Marketing with a variety of administrative duties as required.
7. Appeals a. Deliver at least 2 fundraising appeals each year (Festive and Tax Appeal) b. Work with the Senior Manager Income Development and Marketing to develop and design fundraising appeals c. Coordinate printing and mail house requirements d. Meet targets and work within budget

8. Events a. In conjunction with the Senior Manager Income Development and Marketing assist with the organisation of any events for donors, supporters, and/or members.
9. Compliance & Accountability a. Comply with the ABA’s policies and procedures, Code of Conduct, CEO and OH&S legislation and ensure records are stored and used in compliance with archiving policies and privacy legislation. b. Be accountable for carrying out duties having regard to safety of self, colleagues and the general public, and also having regard for the safe and accountable use of all relevant plant and equipment.

Key performance indicators 1. Membership strategy is developed and fully implemented and new and renewing membership numbers meet or exceed targets 2. Membership budget (income) is achieved or exceeded 3. Agreed timelines met, including for reporting 4. All fundraising, direct mail appeals, community fundraising and raffle promotions are delivered on time and within budget and achieve targets 5. Advertising budget is achieved 6. Marketing collateral is produced on time and is of a high quality.
