Minutes of Group IV A

Preseason Minutes of Group 4 at Romford B.C. 11 th April 2017 .

1) Apologies were received from Alan Morris, Sandy Dron, Dudley Payne, and David Griggs, meeting began with 20 members present.

2) The chairman opened the meeting at 7.05 pm. After welcoming all in attendance the chairman thanked the Romford Bowls Club for their hospitality and use of the club. He then said that he had purchased seven (7) county shirts at the last county meeting at a cost of £105.00 and since the county treasurer had recently moved, his new details were required so that a payment could be sent. He then took the opportunity to thank Colin our new treasurer for taking on the job which has caused so many problems.

3) The minutes of 2016 preseason meeting were not read but can be found on the group website.

4) Secretary’s report: There was no correspondence. The Green testing schedule had been sent out. The County hand books are here for collection, thanks mainly to David Griggs for taking the trouble to pick them up so that we had them for tonight.

5) Treasurers report: The treasurer said he had gone over the previous accounts and they were correct. The account was now with a new Bank the Metro and on 4th April stood at £2188 – 20.

6) County Selectors report: (Read by chairman). I have sent out all the paper work for the county games and have had all of them returned. All the games have been allocated and the first selection has been sent to the Group 4 clubs. Please check that all clubs have received them. I am sorry I cannot be with you as I am going on holiday.

7) Assistant Secretary/Results Secretaries report: Little to report, I did speak to John Tully last week and asked him if there was anything he wanted me to put before the meeting tonight. He said he could not think of anything but would let me know if there was. I have not heard from him. However he did say that the entries have gone up slightly for the first time in a few years, which is obviously a good sign.

There is only one point which some of you may already be aware, due to their number of entries the County will get three entries in all of the competitions in the Nationals at Leamington (referred to as a C entry). When the comps start it will be business as usual from me and I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone all the best for the season.

8) Domestic Competition Secretary’s Report: Ashford Cup trials and the Wally Ball team sheets have been sent to all clubs. But there have been changes to the Ashford Cup trial, a new sheet will be sent out. Also I have asked for the Competition entry sheets to be returned and please include the name and phone number of your clubs 2016 Champion so that he can be entered into the Champion of Champions competition.

9) Green Testing: The green testing schedule has been sent out, so please check that times and dates are acceptable, if not please contact your tester to make alternative arrangements.

11) The chairman closed the meeting at 7.50
