Post: Development Officer.

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week) Salary: £18,000 PA

Contract: Fixed term contract From 01 July 2016 to 30 June 2017 (the appointment is subjected to receiving funding for the post- application pending)

LINKnet Mentoring Limited provides mentoring support to minority ethnic people on employability, careers, education and personal development. The post holder will be responsible for the administration and development of our services in our Edinburgh and Lothians projects. This involves promoting our mentoring and recruitment services, and recruiting volunteer mentors and mentees. He/she will be directly responsible to LINKnet Director.

The necessary information, support and supervision are available.

Main duties and responsibilities of the post

1. To undertake outreach work with public, private and voluntary sector organisations , religious centres , and individuals etc. in order to recruit people to make a minimum of 60 mentoring pairs.(60 mentors and 60 mentees) 2. To undertake promotional and consultation activities with Recruitment Agencies to encourage them to work with LINKnet (10 agencies) 3. To undertake promotional and consultation activities with employers to convince them to work with LINKnet (10 employers) 4. To publicize and promote LINKnet activities to attract mentors and mentees to the project using IT resources and social media. 5. To undertake needs analysis and provide training and resources to service users on employability skills and personal effectiveness 6. Administration and record keeping 7. To identify complementary support services and negotiate with them on behalf of the service user 8. To take part in team meetings and all other relevant activities of the organisation. 9. To be available for evening and weekend work when required. 10. To undertake any other relevant duties that the Director requests.

Person Specification

Skills and Experience required

Essential  Experience in outreach work; promoting and publicising services and recruiting volunteers

 Excellent people skills with a proven record of working with people from ethnic backgrounds

 Good communication skills in both oral and written forms of the English language

 Presentation skills

 Good IT skills, including word processing, database management and social media

 Experience in organising events

 Experience in admin/clerical work

Desirable  Experience of training needs analysis and developing learning solutions

 Consulting skills

 Ability to speak community languages other than English

 To have a current British driving license

 Experience of problem solving, monitoring and evaluation
