Devastating Crushes

We all remember what our first major crush felt like. Right? Well for most people they get a tingling feeling inside when ever they see that person through out the day.

When we want to talk to them, we land up freezing in front of them like a mute. Even when they star to talk to you, you feel like you want to melt because they do not know how bad you have it for them. With my experience, I think it has been pretty much what I just said there. Not to mention the way we dream about being with that person and feeling what it would be like if you were that person in his or her arms every once and a while. I may not be an expert on love but it is mainly the same for every one. You may be that ten percent that is not like this at all and you can go up to that person with out melting or freezing up but I was referring to the other majority that feels the same way.

Just like Charlie in, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, he was a freshman in high school and was called a wallflower because of the way he acted. He was conservative and quite.

Charlie meets Sam and Patrick at a football and ended up being best friends. Even though

Charlie had his first major crush on his friend Sam, they remand good friends. In doing so major crushes for Charlie, his sister and I ended up being devastating.

When Charlie met his two best friends, he had developed a small crush on Sam. It was had not to make the friendship harder consider the way Charlie felt about Sam he had dreams about her and when it was out in the open the rejection was what hurt the most. Delgado2

As Charlie told Sam about the dream and how he thought she was more than just pretty,

Sam came back and told him, “You know that you are too young for me Charlie? You do know that?” He simply replied

“Yes I do”(Chbosky 22).

It was a great thing for Sam to say this right away to Charlie because then he would be wasting his time on Sam and never experience any thing else. Even though he had a major crush on her, they remained friends. I know that when I first met my good friend I had a major crush on him. When I finally had the guts to go and tell him I was halcyon afterward because all the feeling inside just kept pushing and pushing. He did not say what Sam said to Cahrlie but it was similar. He told me that he thought of me as a friend rather than a girlfriend. It was a good thing that I told him instead of being taciturn about it because later it may have been turned into some thing else and we would not be friends today like Sam and Charlie are.

After getting use to the fact that Charlie had a crush on Sam, he was introduced to

Mary Elizabeth. That is when it got a little more complicated. Mary Elizabeth asked

Charlie to one of the dances and Charlie said yes. Even though Charlie wanted Sam to be jealous, she was not. A few times after the dance, Charlie and Mary Elizabeth went out together. Charlie clams that she was not his girlfriend but Mary Elizabeth might have taken it the wrong way in thinking that they were together. When they went to Patrick’s party that when Mary Elizabeth figured they were not going out any more or in her case never even going out. They were all playing truth or dare and it was Charlie’s turn since he was picking truth all nigh he picked dare instead. Patrick then said, “Kiss the prettiest girl in the room on the lips.” That is when he got up then knelt down in front of Sam and Delgado3 kissed her. After the kiss Sam got up to run after Mary Elizabeth and yelled back to

Charlie

“What the fuck is wrong with you?”(135). This just goes back to him having feeling for Sam. Even though he went out with Mary Elizabeth, a few times the he could not hide his true feeling and he could not lie about kissing the prettiest girl in the room. If he had went up to Mary Elizabeth instead of Sam every thing would have not been as awkward but Sam would be wondering why he did not kiss her and their friendship would have taken a plunge.

Just like Charlie's his sister had developed a crush it was not exactly like Charlie’s only because she developed one on her boyfriend. It is quire to have a crush on your boyfriend considering you are going out with him and he likes you the way you like him .In her case it is different because her boyfriend hit her. They were talking about the relationship and how he was not man enough and that is when he hit her. When their parent s found out about her boyfriend hitting her, they were going to go to his house and talk to his parent about how they should raise their kid. That is when Charlie’s sister said,

“ But I love him” and continued to cry like Charlie has never seen her cry before. Her mother then responded to her by saying,

“Don’t ever say that about anyone again. Not even me.”(25). His sister must have not seen past the boy she was dating to say what she did. Then slitest feeling for some ended up devastating if you cannot see past the person they really are. Especially when you just see how attractive some one is but you never meet them and talk to them to hear what kind of person they are inside. Delgado4

As well as being told not to love any one by her mother, Charlie’s sister ended up getting pregnant from her boyfriend and then having an abortion. She told Charlie when he asked what was wrong she yelled at him a few times then told him to sit down next to her. “After a while, she calmed down a bit and let go. She took a deep breath and brushed off the hair that was sticking to her face.” Charlie then wrote, “That’s when she told me she was pregnant”(116). Usually when some one is pregnant and is in a good relationship they would tell the person they were pregnant. Then that person would be halcyon about it, but at the same time a little shocked but be. It went different for Charlie's sister. After they went to the clinic to get the abortion and his sister went to another dance with her boyfriend, she told him that there was nothing to worry about because it was all a false alarm. To do some thing like that she must have had low self-esteem because the least she could of done was talk to him about it then they could have made the decision together. She was instead a coward about it and that is what happends when you have a crush on some one but instead they do not like it if there is something wrong and it turns into devastation.

Although Charlie’s sister had problems Charlie faced a bigger issue with Sam and

Craig. Even though they said they were going to be just friends Charlie could not exactly handle that. It was hard for him to watch Sam having fun with some other than him. The jelousey and devastation of him not getting t be with Sam was getting to him. When he did see Sam she spacificlly told Charlie, “I know that you know that I like Craig. And I know that I tolds you not to think of me that way. And I know that we can’t be together like that. But I want to forget all those thing for a minute”(71). After she said this she told

Charlie that she wanted his first kiss to be by someone whop truly loved him. Just Delgado5 because she said by someone whom truly love him does not mean she wanted to go out with him .she was just trying to make sure that it was not by someone who was using him. That is what Charlie took the wrong way. I have done that before as well. Except my friend did not kiss me he just said that when the time came if no one had given me my first real kiss that he would be the one to so.

Ultimately crushes for Charlie, his sister and I ended up the same way devastating. When you like someone the way Charlie, his sister and I do you can see how it seems like it will work out but as you look further and further into it, it turns out to be devastating and almost wants to make you cry. It is like the movies were you want that person to be the other person but it turns out the other way and you just want to tell them it should be the other way. It is how life is though you just need to go with the flow because if you do not the whole system will be corrupt and thing will not turn out the way they are suppose to be. It is like the movie stars say the show must go on and so should life.
