The weather could not have been much better today. Temps reaching the low 40’s with very little wind. A perfect day for scoring. 75 shooters came out to Medinah where we had 2 perfect 50’s with another 15 shooters managing to run 25 straight. Great shooting gentlemen!
Glen Oak showed up with 27 shooters and continued their dominance, winning their 5th straight of the season. Brendan Durkin led the way again with his third 50 of the season. Jim Buik, a C- shooter (not for long) posted a 46 netting him a 49 for the team and Al Forst, Artie Tessman and John Wachter made up the rest of the leaderboard the 49’s. Mark Gadbois, Gerry Buccino and Bill Ziebel also put together 25’s for the Glen Oak squad. Can any other squad step up and beat these guys in one meet this year?
St Charles had the meet they were looking for, taking second place and extending their second place spot to an 8.5 bird lead. Jeff Moecher had the only other 50 today leading the way. Lynn Snow ran 25 straight to finish with a 49 and Jim Gilman ran his first round and finished with a 48. John Samuels had a nice outing with a net 48 and Rick Abrams shot a net 47.5. This team will be hard to catch.
Medinah had a real nice home team showing with 20 shooters coming out. We’ll also give them all the credit for the spectacular weather. The Medinah squad was led by Eric Achepohl’s net 48. Eric is a D shooter who has been on the leaderboard several times this season. Great job Eric! Larry Murison Sr had a nice round of 48 including a straight, Bernie Glavin posted a 47.5 and 4 other shooters, Bill Aldrich, Andy Ho, Reno Novelle and Dave Stewart, had 47’s to round out the team. While they didn’t make the leaderboard, John Kostelny, Doug Mulay and Mel Lee ran 25 straight during their round. Nice job!
The struggles continue for Oak Park. They made a push last week but counldn’t keep the momentum going. Jim Young came back from his January in Florida and shot a team best 49. Kyle Davis dropped one bird on each field for a 48, Chris Locke had a nice round to post a 47.5, Cam Anton had the only other OP straight for the day and ended up with a 46.5 and Kent Kirk and Brian Racine had 46’s.
Only 2 shoot’s remain. While the team championship looks to be locked up there is still time to make moves in the individual classes.
The next CCSL shoot is Saturday, February 21 at White Gates. Don’t forget, you can reserve a shoot time by contacting Al Forst at (708) 344-7900 or email at [email protected] beginning Monday of the week of the shoot. Members must register, in person, on shoot day, at least 30 minutes prior to their assigned time or their position in the squad can be reassigned to a later squad. If the squads are running ahead of schedule, you will be reassigned if you're not signed in by the time the squads switch fields. In any event, you must be registered by 2:30 P.M. in order to be guaranteed an opportunity to shoot. Please remember this is being done in an effort to keep our shoots moving quickly and eliminate long waits.
Sincerely,
OPCC
