Story Evaluation P N E Comments Comments Research (10pts) - The story was thoroughly investigated and research the subject - More than one source was used to gather information Capture B-Roll (20pts) - Equipment is signed out and checked for good working order - Picture stability is consistent - Panning action shots illustrate proper lead room - Picture composition illustrates the proper use of the rule of 1/3s - A variety of close-ups, medium and long shots are used. - A variety of camera locations are used. - B roll must pictorially match the script - Equipment returned on time and in good working condition - B roll involving camera movement began and ended with at least 2 seconds of static video Interviews (15pts) - Interview responses gave perspective to each side of the story - Interview location and background relates to the story, and is checked for power sources, lighting and extraneous noise - Equipment is signed out and checked for good working order - Picture composition illustrates proper lead room - Picture composition illustrates the proper use of the rule of 1/3s - Camera/reporter/interviewee height is consistent - Picture stability is consistent - Picture composition illustrates acceptable brightness and contrast - Camera distance reflects the emotional response of the interviewee - Audio level is consistent - Audio is loud enough - Extraneous noise does not interfere with clarity - Interviewee was treated with dignity and respect - Equipment returned on time and in good working condition - Interview was arranged in advance (when applicable) Stand-Up (5pts) -Pronunciation of script is recorded with no flaws - Reporter was dressed professionally - An appropriate background/environment was selected to conduct a stand-up - Reporter appeared charismatic and informed on the topic - Audio is loud enough - Appropriate picture composition is used P N E Comments Script (20pts) - Script encompasses the 5w’s and the h - Script is written in conversational language - Script includes facts obtained through research and interview - Script is consistent in tense and point of view - Script is non-biased - Script meets news story time limits - Script is passed in on time (meets news production deadlines) Voice Overs (5pts) - Pronunciation of script is recorded with no flaws - Intonation matches the story mood - Pace matches the story mood - Audio consistency is maintained - Audio is free of extraneous noise Edit A-Roll (10pts) - Project is created in the correct format - Project is created using proper file management - Audio and video are captured to the correct file drive - Digital files were properly imported - Captured interviews are carefully edited and placed on project timeline - Audio levels are modified to create sound consistency

Edit B-Roll (10pts) -Video selections for timeline show a variety of camera angles and distances - Video coincides with audio -Titles and graphics, if applicable, have been overlaid with necessary transparency - Transitions have been used in appropriate locations on the timeline - A video pad is used before and after the beginning of the audio track -Finished Story should not show jump cuts

Tease/Lead In/Graphics (5pts) - Box shots are a pictorial representation of the story topic - Tease and Lead in are appropriately created to attract viewers - Box shots are exported and saved to the server - Lead In and Lead out are emailed to the director

Story Completion (Grade will greatly be diminished if not handed in by deadline ) - Story was exported to the video drive on the computer - The integrity of the story was not damgaged - Story was copied to the server - Story was finished on time
