The Colloquium Room (4448) is located on the South end of East Hall and holds approximately 110 people seated. In order to reserve 4448, email [email protected]. Please be sure to attach the completed reservation form (which is the last page of this document).

Important Information

~Important Note: Room must be cleaned and vacated by 10:00 pm.

Cooking or preparing food is prohibited.

~If you have affiliation with the College of LSA, there is no charge for using the Colloquium Room; however, if you do not then a $75 per day fee will apply.

~You must provide a short code for any applicable charges (e.g. usage fee, clean-up fee, lost key, etc.).

~You must follow all the rules indicated in this document or you will be charged. Careful review of this document, along with clear communication to all individuals affiliated with the event, will help to ensure you are not charged for anything. Please note the fee schedule below.

*Clean-up fee – $75 If additional cleaning is needed after the event, you will be charged $75 per hour at a minimum of 1 hour.

*Room rearrangement fee – $75 If furniture is moved for the event and not returned to its original location, you will be charged a minimum of $75. If you notice that the room is not in order when you arrive for your event, please promptly notify [email protected] to ensure that you are not inappropriately charged.

*Projector bulb replacement fee – $100 If the projector is left on after your event, you will be charged $100.

~Permission to serve alcoholic beverages must be obtained from LSA Facilities by contacting Jacqui Crawford (734-764-0323 or [email protected]). Alcoholic beverages are not to be served in 4448 during class or exam periods. Approval of alcoholic beverage service obligates the sponsoring group to establish controls that preclude serving alcohol to minors and excessive consumption of alcohol by an individual.

~Food should be limited to snacks and hors d'oeuvres or food that can be served and removed from 4448 without significant preparation or clean-up. Please note: You may not sell any non-commercially prepared food items without consent from OSEH: http://www.oseh.umich.edu/.

~The Psychology Department does not provide furniture or equipment for events. You must make separate arrangements for furniture, equipment, and/or media equipment. Furniture removal and food clean-up needs to occur promptly at the conclusion of the event.

~The building will be open from 7am until 6pm, Monday-Friday, without having to use your UMID to get in. From 7pm until 10pm the building is accessible with your UMID at one of the doors that have the ID card reader (The main doors at Church Street and also on the other side of the building to the right as you come up the stairs). Note: Rooms may not be reserved outside valid MCard hours.

Rules for the Use of East Hall and 4448 East Hall

1. Loud activities are not allowed in 4448. No use of amplified sounds.

2. Posting or taping items on walls is not allowed.

3. Tables and chairs CANNOT be removed from classrooms or other rooms to be set-up in 4448.

4. It is the user’s responsibility to provide funding for the repair or replacement of furniture, equipment or structural components that may be damaged or destroyed as a result of their use of the facility.

5. Access to classrooms or other rooms is not allowed, unless separately arranged (through the Student Academic Affairs Office or Floor Administrators who reserve those rooms).

6. Serving alcohol to minors or in excess is prohibited. Permission to serve alcohol within the Psychology Department must come from Jacqui Crawford in LSA Facilities (734-764-0323 or [email protected]).

7. The space must be returned to its original state after the event. 8. All trash bags and all waste must be removed from the space.

9. If an event is held after 5pm, the doors to 4448 must be locked upon completion of event.

10. Please return any keys that you have signed out to the SAA Office (1343 East Hall) at the conclusion of an event. If it is after hours, please return them through the drop-off slot in the door. If keys are not returned in a timely fashion, key sign out privileges will be revoked.

The following tasks must be completed at the conclusion of your event.

1. Make sure furniture is in original location. Feel free to refer to the room set-up diagram located on the wall.

2. All surfaces must be wiped down and cleaned.

3. Remove all items that do not belong at our facilities (e.g. left-over food, bags, articles of clothing, books, etc.)

4. Pick up any trash on floor.

5. Remove full garbage bags from their cans, tie securely, and place them in the large garbage container. Please let us know if you will need additional trash receptacles.

6. Re-bag the trashcans with new bags located in the bottom of the cans.

7. Turn off the projector and put away projection screen if used (Please push “off” button twice).

8. Lock audiovisual cabinet (if used).

9. Turn off all lights.

* A quick run-through of the above tasks will assure that no charges will be incurred.

DIRECTIONS TO 4448 EAST HALL

East Hall is located next to Ulrich’s Bookstore, and directly across Church Street from the UM parking structure. East Hall houses both the Psychology and Math Departments. The Colloquium Room is located in the Psychology (or north) half of the building.

From Church Street Entry (across from parking structure)

 Go in the Psychology Department doorway  Take the elevator, immediately to your left upon passing through the doorway, to the 4th floor  On the 4th floor, follow the hall to the right and 4448 will be around the corner at the end of the first hall.

From East Hall Front Entrance (off pedestrian walkway west of the building)

 Enter through the main doors (as though headed to the 1st floor auditorium)  Turn right  Go through the double doors into the Math Department  Continue down the hallway to the elevators  Take the elevator to the 4th floor  On the 4th floor, walk down the hallway leading back toward the Psychology Department (located straight ahead and to your left as you come off the elevator)  Turn right when you get to the next hallway  The Colloquium Room will be at the end of that hallway
