Friday Whole School Assembly – Christmas Carol Assembly This Friday is our final assembly for the year and is our Christmas Carol Assembly. We would like to extend a warm welcome to all families to join us to celebrate the end of the school year and sing along to some great Christmas Carols.

End of Year School Reports On Thursday 13th December your child/ren will bring home their end of year school report. Please keep an eye out for this, so that you may celebrate your child’s successes and accomplishments for 2012.

New Appointments for 2013 I am pleased to announce that Miss Mary Anne Schwenke will be back at St Leonards in 2013 in a fixed term teaching role in our Junior Syndicate. Mrs Kay Spray will also be back at St Leonards in a permanent teaching role in our Middle Syndicate. Congratulations go out to both of these women on being appointed to these positions.

Stationery for 2013 The Stationery packs for the 2013 school year including the $20.00 Art and Craft levy are as follows: New Entrant - $45.00 Year 1 - $45.00 Year 2 - $47.00 Year 3 - $69.00 Year 4 - $69.00 Year 5/6 - $60.00 The only additional cost will be the school donation, which has been set at $20.00 per child per child per year or $50.00 per family per year. (Family meaning brothers and sisters only, not cousins or nieces and nephews)

End of Year Finish Date & 2013 Start Date School finishes for 2012 on Friday 14th December at 2.00 pm. Please make arrangements to collect your children or make sure someone is at home when they arrive. ← School starts again at St Leonards for 2013 on Tuesday 29th January at 9.00 am. Friends of the School Disco A HUGE thanks to our Staff, FOTS and the community for an awesome night last Friday. Year 6 Graduation A reminder to families of our Year 6 students, that this year’s Year 6 Graduation will take place tonight 7.00 – 9.00 pm. This event is a celebration of your child’s time at St Leonards Road School and the children will be acknowledged for their involvement and successes during their time here. As well as the presentation of awards, the children will also have an opportunity to share their memories. We hope all our Year 6 families will be able to attend.

The Term 4 T-ball season is coming to an end, with last game on Saturday 15 December, for this year. All teams will remain the same for Term 1 2013, with the first game starting on Saturday 9th February not the 2nd as published in last weeks newsletter. 2012 Western Districts Interschool Athletics Results We have had such an outstanding sporting year! Thank-you to our families and friends especially, all the coaches, managers and cheer leaders who have supported our children in all sporting codes throughout this year. Our Interschool Athletics team also went on to break many Western District Records. Here are the new 2012 records set by many of our amazing and talented athletes. 9 RECORDS IN TOTAL FOR 2012! Library Christmas Raffle The Library Christmas raffle is now on sale at the school office. Tickets are $1.00 each. There are three prizes and the winners will be drawn at the Christmas Carol Assembly this Friday, 14 th December 2012. Thank you for your support.

Shadbolt Park Junior Touch Term 1 2013 Are you interested in coaching a St Leonards School Touch Team for this season? Games will be generally played between 4:00 pm and 6.00 pm on Tuesday afternoons, at Suburbs Rugby Club, Shadbolt Park, 200 Portage Road. Grades Available: Year 1/2, Year 3/4, Year 5/6. If you are interested in coaching a St Leonards School Touch team for Term 1 2013, please leave your name and contact number at the school office. Touch training normally takes place after school on Monday. Zinta Kreismanis - PE/Health Team Census Collectors wanted Tuesday, 5 March 2013 is census day. Census is seeking around 7,000 people to join our nationwide team to deliver and collect census forms. Being a Census Collector involves six weeks part-time paid work from 11 February to 24 March 2013. You will work from home and work flexible hours. You will be required to work evenings and weekends to ensure that everyone in your location receives everything required to complete the census. As a Census Collector, you will be the representative for the census in your community. You will need to be professional and friendly in encouraging people to complete the census. Full training is provided. Census Collectors come from all walks of life. Whatever your situation, you are welcome to apply. However, you must be able to read, write and speak English and be able to attend two paid training sessions which may be during normal work hours. The census is important for New Zealand. This is your opportunity to do something unique for your community. Thank you for your support, encouragement and belief in us, to do the very best educationally for your children. It has been a pleasure to have known you and an honour to have been part of your family during your child’s primary schooling.
