2017-2018 SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY
Boy’s Uniform
Boys in K-6 are to wear plain navy blue tailored dress pants. Boys in 7-8 may also wear khaki colored pants. Pants must fit this description: in-seam pockets only, no patch pockets, no colored roll-ups, no ornamentation such as extra pockets, trendy cuts, contrasting stitching, rivets, or gathered ankles. Boys may not wear cargo pants. Pants must be worn at the natural waist line. A dark color dress belt must be worn with pants having belt loops by boys in grades 4-8.
Dress shirts (white or plain light blue) or knit shirts (with 2 or 3 buttons) are to be plain light blue, navy blue, white or Embroidered Red sold only through school . Shirts may be either long or short sleeve, solid in color (no stripes, decorations, trimmings, logos or labels), and must have a collar. Shirts must be tucked in at all times. No layering of shirts is permitted.
Girl’s Uniform
Girls in Kindergarten – 4 are to wear the uniform jumper in plaid or navy blue. Jumpers are to be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. Girls in grades 5-8 may wear a plaid or navy blue skirt. A plaid or navy blue Skort may be worn by all girls. To order the plaid go to Landsend.com, and the name of the plaid is Clear Blue.
Uniform blouses must be the plain, tailored style with either pointed, button-down, or Peter Pan collar (no pull- overs or turtlenecks). Girls may choose to wear the knit shirts (with 3 or 4 buttons) in white, navy, light blue or Embroidered Red sold only through school. Blouses may have long or short sleeves in plain light blue or white (no stripes, lace, decorations, trimmings, logos or labels). No oversize shirts are permitted. Blouses and shirts must be tucked in at all times. No layering is permitted.

Shorts
All students may wear plain navy blue walking shorts. Grades 7 & 8 may also wear khaki colored shorts. Shorts must be no more than 3 inches above the knee. The shorts must be worn with the regular uniform blouse or shirt neatly tucked in at all times. Shorts may be worn from August to October and April to June.
Shoes
All Students are to wear athletic shoes (tennis shoes). These shoes MUST have shoe laces that tie and remain tied at all times or Velcro. Tennis shoes may not have any extra adornments such as beading, sparkles or sequins. Students may also wear low cut, tie, loafer, or oxford dress shoes, with normal heals – 1 inch or less in height. NO boots of any kind, fad shoes of any type including crocs, slip-on canvas slipper type shoes, ballet slip on type shoes, and canvas shoes without tie-able laces or sandals of any kind are permitted to be worn at St. Rose School. All shoes must have backs even on dress down days.
Socks
All socks must be visible above the shoe top.
Pullovers
New addition to the uniform this year is a “dry-fit” type pullover. These pullover must be purchased through our school order form. These pull overs will have the school name and a cougar paw on them. Students in grades K-6 are to wear the red pullover. Students in 7th and 8th grade may wear either the red or navy pullover.
Sweaters
Sweaters for all students must be plain solid color (navy blue, light blue, white or red) in either button-down or pullover style. Sweaters may not be oversized, bulky or have ornamentation (no stripes, decorations, trimmings, logos or labels). Jackets of any kind or flannel shirts may not be worn. Saint Rose School sweatshirts may be worn or a solid navy, white or red sweatshirt. When pullover sweaters or the sweatshirts are worn, the collar of the uniform blouse or shirt must be showing. Grades 7 & 8 may wear only St. Rose hoodies. Students in grades K-6 may not wear any type of hoodie during class time.
Make-up and Jewelry
No student is permitted to wear any type of make-up. Only clear nail polish may be worn. Students may wear a small cross or medal inside their shirts or blouses, a watch and no more than 2 rings. Girls only may choose to wear a pair of earrings but these must be small and worn close to the ear. No other jewelry or item of ornamentation (e.g. bells) is permitted.
Hair Styles
All students are to present themselves at all times with a neat hair cut and appropriate hair style.
“Tails”, artificial coloring, beaded braids, or any other hair fads, like a “bowl cut”, shaved areas and/or designs are not permitted for any student. Boys’ hair may not touch their shirt collar nor may it hang to the eyebrow in the front. Students must have a traditional hair cut and style with no distinguishable difference in the length of their hair between the top and the bottom. If there is a questions about a particular hair cut or style, parents should consult the principal before having the student’s hair cut or styled. The decision of the principal is final.
Gym Clothes
Students must wear plain red or black knee length shorts or jogging pants, a solid navy, gray, white or red T- shirt (no writing or pictures other than the Saint Rose School cougar emblem), and appropriate gym shoes. No short cheerleading style shorts may be worn to gym class. Students in Kindergarten and Grades 1-4 may wear their gym clothes on gym day as their uniform for the day.
