1 [3443-1] 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A BILL 10 11 TO PROVIDE THAT BEGINNING WITH SCHOOL YEAR 12 2003-2004, THE STARTING DATE AND ENDING DATE FOR 13 THE ANNUAL SCHOOL TERM OF THE CHESTERFIELD 14 COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT MUST BE SET BY THE 15 BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE DISTRICT IN ITS SOLE 16 DISCRETION PROVIDED THAT THE ANNUAL SCHOOL 17 TERM MUST COMPLY WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS OF 18 SECTION 59-1-420 RELATING TO LENGTH OF THE 19 SCHOOL TERM. 20 21 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South 22 Carolina: 23 24 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 59-5-71 25 of the 1976 Code, or any regulation or action of the State Board of 26 Education to the contrary, beginning with school year 2003-2004, 27 the starting date and ending date for the annual school term of 28 Chesterfield County School District must be set by the board of 29 trustees of the district in its sole discretion provided that the annual 30 school term must comply with all requirements of Section 31 59-1-420 relating to length of the school term. 32 33 SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the 34 Governor. 35 ----XX---- 36
