Canowindra Public School P & C General Meeting Tuesday 7th June, 2011 7pm

Correspondence . Annual P & C Conference July 2011 Tamworth – no one will go this year . Regional P & C – we favour going to school education groups – Alison talked about doing it over webinar, a conferencing set up via internet. Need to respond to email with our support - Ash

Business Arising from Previous Minutes
Pop up sign still ongoing – Julia Julia has digital print of the school – was going to put a print in the media asking locals if they recognise anyone. Discussed putting it up in the school in a really good place. Alison to talk to Kate about this. Alison – fundraising pavers – underway, in newsletter, Phoenix, Canowindra news, Cowra Guardian, High School Newsletter, historical society, website, put posters up round town. Remind people to get their order forms in. Well done Alison and Julianne! Will send businesses an order form and the Preschool. Alison is organising a stand in the main street. Helen still following up mosaic and Bunnings BBQ Sign still in progress. Eric is still waiting for council – P&C will put a letter to council as well. (about footpaths for both school entrances). Bunnings BBQ to raffle – Jody was talking to them about this and sleepers to finish garden beds off. Skip-athon – Eric mentioned it is at the same time as pie drive and pavers. Put off till later in 3rd term. - Jody has prizes for skip-athon – will give to Lois. Skipping rope order – Tamara has handed it back and Jody has taken on to order. Order middle of term. Disco- $577 dollars profit from disco. Discussed the supervision issue with kids leaving the concrete area – will get some tape to barrier it off. -Make a note for future disco’s to communicate with parents that we the P & C are responsible for children at disco. -Also Helen suggested that we have a $5 entry fee including popper and sausage. – kids to look after their own money.
Reports
Principal’s – following up on council. Good numbers for next year looks good. Birth to Kinder went well – half a dozen children. * good news about funding for landscaping – apply for joint funding – half of what we spent on landscaping we can get refunded. Will need to put a quote for volunteer work. Lois is getting all expenses together – Jody has some too. Once we finish with the pavers we will send it all in. * Eric will get another quote for rubber softfall. * Gina is doing articles for the paper this year for the school. Great to put lots of things in that the kids are doing. Great advertising for the school.
Treasurer Available funds $4757 after: * mothers day stall $76 * Disco $577 *Some plants, irrigation and school expenses.
Uniforms: Jody some samples has come in and we are still waiting on more. Cannot get the same hat with the yellow piping with a wider brim Discussed the samples that Jody had. When samples come in we will have another meeting to discuss
New business:
Front entrance: Alison suggested to render the bricks out the front to make the entrance look nicer. Al to follow up possibilities Climbing Web: Ash suggested a climbing web to purchase in the future. Website: Discussed website, mostly good but needs updating with some information and photos. -Uniform Information is in word format and needs to be in PDF, also confusing format with boys and girls, list hard to read. Ash and Alison to look into this. -Our classes – photos need to be updated. -Newsletters – term one and two are together – a few little changes and someone reviewing it regularly. Maybe someone from P &C can regularly email some suggestions for change. To leave on the agenda. Information booklet: Discussed need to update and feedback given re some changes Logo: Alison to look into getting clear logo. Ash away next term, Julia Andrews President. Historical school memorabilia – future project for P & C to digitise photos. Pie Drive: Why Forbes supplying these? Would like to support local. Eric to look into this Welcoming ideas: Julianne has ideas for making parents feel welcome at things like Kinder Bounce – will write her ideas down for next meeting. Water tanks: Joe suggested water tank to catch water for gardens – discussion – will be good to be seen as a green school. But we need to have a plan of how we can use the water well. Joe to look into that.
