PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING, Miami, FL Postdoctoral Associate, 2011-Present  Synthesized colloidal silver and gold nanosphere from the oil/water based microemulsion system for label free SERS based detection of stress proteins.  Presently working on the analytical quantification of stress proteins, nanoparticle delivery into yeast cells and in- vivo SERS. In parallel working on the multiplexed detection of stress proteins and isolation of the signal of interest in the intracellular environment using chemometrics method.

UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY, Knoxville, TN Graduate Assistant, 2005-2011  Produced microfluidic based SERS substrate using soft lithographic technique from poly(dimethylsiloxane) as device platform. Achieved greater reproducibility of 6%.  Fabricated gold film coated platinum electrode and monitored in real time the release of dacarbazine from the nanoemulsion using both electrochemical and SERS technique.  Synthesized silver nanocube and spherical gold nanoparticles, and performed Raman and SERS interpretation of organic molecules.  Fabricated and characterized K+ ion selective micropipette electrode employing scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) technique. OAK RIDGE NATIONAL LABORATORY, Oak Ridge, TN Research Assistant, 2008-2010  Successfully developed and optimized ultrathin Alumina coated Au/Ag multilayer metal film to elevate SERS sensitivity and thermal stability of the substrate at higher temperature. Attained 10,000-fold in signal enhancement.  Fabricated sub-3nm thick conformal layer of Alumina on a silver island film, utilizing atomic layer deposition (ALD) and enhanced stability of the substrate against oxidation and higher temperature.  Evaluated interfacial changes accompanying the phase transformation of calcium nitrate tetrahydrate in-situ wise by SERS as a function of temperature.

BPL SOFT ENERGY SYSTEM, India Senior R&D Engineer, 2002-2005  Maximized battery cell discharge capacity and efficiency to 74% by synthesis and characterization (FTIR, AAS, and particle size and surface area analysis) of novel lithium cathode material.  Supervised R&D activities, partnered with production and quality assurance department to rectify material defects, elevate performance, and lower costs.

SUNDRAM FASTENERS LIMITED, India Summer Internship, 5/2000-7/2000  Formulated an electrolyte bath composition for the electroless plating of nickel to achieve improved quality of coating using Box-Behnken design, resulting in greater reflectivity and hardness.

CENTRAL ELECTROCHEMICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE, India Undergraduate Student, 1998-2002  Synthesized and performed surface level characterization and bandgap measurements of Cadmium Selenide nanofilms.
