Classroom Job Chart
1. Greeter #1 – Positions self at one of the classroom doors and greets classmates personally as they enter the room, using eye contact and a creative approach to welcome each person.
2. Greeter #2 - Positions self at one of the classroom doors and greets classmates personally as they enter the room, using eye contact and a creative approach to welcome each person.
3. Technology Wizard – Boots up the computer before class and provides needed technological assistance.
4. Morning Message Composer – Writes a message to the class on the board or designated area before class begins. Can be a quote, inspirational, or funny message designed to encourage future teachers.
5. Class Calendar Updater – Updates class calendar regarding upcoming due dates, assignments, and posts other important notices.
6. Attendance taker – Records attendance from attendance chart and provides missing persons list to Mrs. Crow and to Well Wisher (job #7).
7. Well Wisher – Makes absentee folder for people who are absent. Passes a card for all to sign.
8. Materials Manager – Passes back folders and/or helps distribute needed materials for class activities.
9. Official Encourager – Stays on the lookout for friendly acts and other contributions to the positive classroom environment. Offers encouragement through notes and or verbal statements to those contributing to a positive climate in the room.
10. Photographer – Takes photographs of class activities for end of semester slide show/scrapbook.
11. Celebrations Leader – Checks Celebrations board and acknowledges birthdays, anniversaries, or other causes to celebrate in creative ways. How you choose to do this is up to you!
12. Announcer – Announces weekly jobs on Monday and changes job wheel on Friday to prepare for the next week. Also makes important announcements and provides copies of announcement sheets to the Class Calendar Updater (Job #5 13. Move and Groove Leader – Leads a movement activity to begin class. The activity should set a positive tone and get oxygen flowing to our brains! You may bring your own CD or use one of mine, or use some other movement activity that is appropriate for early childhood classrooms.
14. Lights Monitor – Adjusts the lights for Mrs. Crow during power points, film clips, etc. The lights monitor will need to station himself or herself near the light switch when appropriate.
15. Time Keeper – Alerts Mrs. Crow to the last 10 minutes of class to allow for class wrapup.
16. Goodbye Leader #1 - Positions self at one of the classroom doors and wishes classmates well as they leave the classroom, using a creative approach of your choice.
17. Goodbye Leader #2 - Positions self at one of the classroom doors and wishes classmates well as they leave the classroom, using a creative approach of your choice.
18. Field Reporter – Posts evidence of SEL in his or her field placement in the room and tells class about evidence during class wrapup. Evidence could include a photo you take in the field, a note or picture given you by a child, etc, or other evidence of your choice.
19. VIP #1 – Completes “You’re a Poster Child” and displays it on the VIP board.
20. VIP #2 - Completes “You’re a Poster Child” and displays it on the VIP board.
21. VIP Introducer – Introduces the week’s VIP(s) to the class.
22. S.T.A.R. leader – encourages classmates and professor to be a S.T.A.R. at appropriate times (Smile, Take a Deep Breath, and Relax!)
