DEER SHACK SHUTDOWN CHECKLIST

1) Make your log book entries before leaving. 2) Do dishes, put dishes, cups and pans away (upside down). 3) Check coffee pots for grounds and discard as necessary. 4) Take measures to prevent the feeding of mice by securing food sources. (Check toaster for excessive crumbs) 5) General straightening up and put stuff away. 6) Vacuum carpet, sweep kitchen & porch floor. 7) Roll up and fold all bedding, store bedding on upper bunks. Put bedding in plastic bags if shack will not be occupied for awhile. 8) Clean out refrigerator, don’t forget the freezer box, shut refrigerator off with dial inside, leave door propped open to reduce mildew. 9) Empty water jugs into the outhouse pit, this helps reduce the solids, sprinkle some lime down the hole if available. 10) Un-plug TV and antenna. 11) During Spring & Summer months crack some windows for ventilation, close all windows during Winter months. 12) Close all porch windows. (Leave one or two open 1” during Summer). 13) During Winter months pour anti-freeze into all drains before leaving. 14) During Fall & Winter months restock wood supply on porch before leaving. 15) Secure back door. 16) Bag up all garbage including cans and bring the garbage home with you, replace the bags in the empty trash cans. 17) Leave porch light switch on so you have light when arriving at night. 18) Close and lock shack door. 19) Shut off gas at LP tank. 20) Pull the electric disconnect at post, and replace in slot upside down. 21) Be sure the shed is locked up. 22) Be sure you have your keys or have returned any shack keys to where you found them. 23) Police grounds for litter. 24) Last to leave closes and locks the green swing gate. 25) Report any problems, broken stuff, or supply needs to The Jimmer.
