The Luxury Fashion Afternoon Tea at The Peninsula Shanghai Combines Superlative Dining and Prestigious Brands in a Chic Setting

The Peninsula Shanghai is the city’s ultimate destination for afternoon tea and designer brand shopping, and trend-setting guests can now experience both weekend pleasures in a chic location. Each Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the world-famous Peninsula Afternoon Tea is being served in The Peninsula Arcade, surrounded by a stellar selection of brand stores including Prada, Ralph Lauren, Loro Piana, Armani, Damiani, Versace and Giorgio Armani.

The Luxury Fashion Afternoon Tea offers two specially created set menus, the Traditional Afternoon Tea and the seasonal Spring Floral Afternoon Tea, plus an a la carte menu in the sophisticated setting of The Peninsula Arcade. Diners can be assured of the same delicious sweet and savoury treats, superlative service, white tablecloths, tiered silver platters and imported Bernardaud china tableware and fine silverware that are the hallmarks of The Lobby’s popular Afternoon Tea. In addition to enjoying a sumptuous high tea, guests will be treated to a pianist performing lilting melodies from 2:00pm to 6:00 pm. Bespoke fashion shows, store promotions and branded afternoon tea items are planned for later in the season.

The Traditional Afternoon Tea menu features sweet confections such as traditional and lemon poppy seed scones served with homemade strawberry-rhubarb jam, lemon curd and Yorkshire clotted cream, raspberry macaroons, chocolate dipped shortbread, black cherry tart with pistachio cream and Valhrona chocolate mousse. The exquisite silver platter serving also includes mandarin scented salmon gravlax with citrus cream cheese and Kaluga caviar on dill bread, and truffle quiche with wild mushrooms and Parmiggiano Reggiano.

Sweet sensations on the seasonal Spring Floral Afternoon menu include traditional and rose petal scones served with homemade strawberry-rhubarb jam, lemon curd and Yorkshire clotted cream, honey, orange and jasmine cookies, apple brioche, hibiscus and strawberry cheesecake and rose and raspberry choux puff. Savoury indulgences range from poached salmon, cucumber and caper on whole-wheat bread to a lavender smoked duck breast, endive, orange and almond brioche bun. Weekend a la carte options at The Peninsula Arcade include a selection of afternoon tea sandwiches, tea scones and pastries, plus The Peninsula Club sandwich and The Peninsula Snow Crab Cobb salad.

Both of The Peninsula Arcade’s Luxury Fashion Afternoon Tea set menus and the a la carte options can be paired with a classic selection of Peninsula branded teas, including Assam, Darjeeling, Earl Grey and the Peninsula Afternoon blend, plus a fresh-brewed Cappuccino, Caffe Latte or a signature Hot Chocolate.
