RESEARCH CONTRIBUTIONS:

Dr. Boyd has contributed to the fields of imaging technology, accelerator and beam physics, superconducting systems, nuclear physics, and medical physics. He developed the first fan beam-Xenon detector CT system, which was licensed to GE. The development of electron beam-based Ultrafast CT, manufactured by Imatron, Inc., has led to a number of advances in diagnosis and treatment, particularly in the fields of Boyd CV Page 3 cardiology and wellness. The development of the CTX-5000 explosives detection scanner, manufactured by InVision, promises to have a major impact on airline security in the future. He holds several patents and has published more than 100 articles in these fields.
