FC PRIDE WRESTLING CLUB About: The Pride Wrestling Club (PWC) is a non-profit organization designed to support and act as a feeder program to the Highland Hills and Floyd Central wrestling teams.

Who: The club is open to all students grades K-8th. Our program is suited to fit both beginning and advanced wrestlers.

What: The main focus is to teach your child the sport of wrestling but they will also learn much more. Wrestlers will learn important skills such as balance, agility and strength that can really benefit them in any sport they play.

When: PWC begins on December 1st and ends the beginning of March. Practices are every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 – 8:00pm. There will be numerous opportunities for your child to actually compete on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season. Every tournament is different and costs usually range from $8 to $15 dollars. Some are local and others require 1-2 hours of travel.

Mandatory Participation: All wrestlers will be required to attend (4) meets throughout the season and attend 80% of the practices. This is to assure that the wrestlers maintain the course of learning the curriculum and don’t fall behind. If a wrestler does not meet these requirements they will be removed from the team and forfeit all fees paid.

Where: Floyd Central Wrestling Room, located in the upstairs of the Auxiliary Gym.

USA Wrestling Card: In the past we have been able to sell/provide USA Wrestling cards onsite. This year you must go online to www.iswa.com to purchase a USA Wrestling Card. The cost is $35. This is the organization that provides insurance for our club and each individual wrestler. You must provide proof of purchase (a receipt or your USA Card) in order to participate in practices. This will be strictly enforced! FC PRIDE WRESTLING CLUB Cost for PWC participation: $60 – This fee pays for over 3 months of wrestling instruction, a t-shirt and free entry into the Pride Wrestling Folkstyle Classic Tournament that we will be hosting on January 25th.

Registration: This year registration will be completed online! Please visit www.fcpridewrestling.com. You will be able to register your child for the wrestling season and follow a link to get your child a USA Wrestling card.

Other:

• Wrestling shoes are preferred but not required. A t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes are to be worn to practices – no blue jeans. Shoes can be purchased at Dick’s Sporting Goods or online (just google wrestling shoes) Please make sure shoes are free from all dirt and debris.

• Do not drop your child off at the door of Floyd Central – please walk them upstairs to the wrestling room – there will be a sign-in sheet available if you are going to drop off. You will need to sign this sheet at every practice.

• No food or drinks are allowed in the wrestling room—water only.

• If you need to speak with a coach, please do so before or after practice.

• Parents and siblings are asked to wait outside the wrestling room. This will help keep practice running smoothly and distractions to a minimum.

• Mouth pieces and headgear are required for tournaments. We will have a small selection available for purchase after Christmas break FC PRIDE WRESTLING CLUB
