Facing the Music with Patricia Routledge

PRESS RELEASE Facing the Music with Patricia Routledge Sunday 18 October, 2.30pm Tickets £23, Concessions £22 01432 340555

Patricia Routledge, best known for TV comedy roles like Hyacinth Bucket in Keeping Up Appearances, will be in conversation with Edward Seckerson this October.

It is still one of the best kept secrets in showbusiness that Patricia Routledge trained not only as an actress but also as a singer and had considerable experience and success in musical theatre, both in this country and in the USA.

Her many awards include a Tony for her Broadway performance in the Styne-Harburg musical Darling of the Day (1967) and a Laurence Olivier Award for her performance in Leonard Bernstein’s Candide (Old Vic 1989). In 1998 she was honoured with the Gold Badge of Merit by the Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.

Writer and broadcaster Edward Seckerson is Chief Classical Music and Opera Critic for The Independent and wrote and presented the long-running BBC Radio 3 series Stage & Screen in which he interviewed many of the most prominent writers and stars of musical theatre.

Edward Seckerson’s diligent discovery of Patricia’s ‘musical life’ makes for a fascinating evening as he leads a conversation with Patricia about her enthralling career as an actress. The evening will also be illustrated with rare recordings.

Free transport to this event is also available as part of The Courtyard’s new transport scheme on selected events this Autumn. There will be mini buses to take customers to and from The Courtyard from Leominster and Ross on Wye, please ask at Box Office when booking.

Facing the Music with Patricia Routledge will be in the Main House on Sunday 18 October at 2.30pm. To book tickets, or for more information contact the Box Office on 01432 340555 or visit www.courtyard.org.uk.
