Job Description

Core Purpose

This non-teaching professional role is to enable localised employer engagement, the Employment Intelligence programme to include work experience at years 10 to 13. To enable students from year 7 upwards to understand career pathways and the world of work. To support community cohesion and to develop strong partnership activity within the community and Academy.

Key Responsibilities

Work Experience & IAG

 Pastoral support for students to include cv writing, career action planning and work seeking skills.

 Developing strong, positive working partnerships with local businesses to enable opportunities for work experience, guru lectures and work related learning for Bulwell Academy students.

 Working with the Director of Business & Enterprise and key Academy staff, to co-ordinate the pre-work experience programme (Employment Intelligence) with supporting work placements for students in years 10 to 13.

 Managing partnership ‘intelligence’ and the database of employers/associated partners able to provide work experience/CEIAG/personal development opportunities for students.

 To support the Careers & Progression Manager with students in Years 7 to 9 to identify potential career briefing activities.

 Identifying potential business/guru lecturers and co-ordinate briefing events.

 To work alongside the Tutors and Heads of Department to ensure that all business-to-education activity meets the required Bulwell Academy Business Partnership protocol.

 To work with local employers to identify the best and most appropriate work experience opportunity with appropriate employment/apprenticeship opportunities.

 To maintain the client relationship management system to track student engagement with employers.

 To provide administrative support to enable the sixth form enrichment programme.

 To lead/provide work experience for Sixth Form students.

 To provide a mentoring programme for Sixth Form students with both business and university/college mentors.

Community

 Promoting the Bulwell Academy to parents and local community groups.

 Working alongside local primary schools to promote careers and employability.

 Working with the primary schools partnership manager to support the transition of students from primary partner schools

 Working with local government and key influencers to maintain outstanding community relationships.

Enterprise

 The post holder will seek to champion enterprise capability and business understanding in all students. This approach will be exemplified through their own behaviours and actions.

 Ensure that a professional and courteous approach is adopted by all throughout the academy.

General

 Exceptional administration skills to ensure that all activities are closely monitored and evaluated.

 Identification of potential ‘good news’ stories and PR activity.

 To actively promote and help grow the Sixth Form.

 To ensure that Health & Safety standards within the Business Hub and on any associated activity (both internal and external) are adhered to at all times by Academy staff, visitors and students.

 To represent the Academy in a professional and business like way at all times

 Answer incoming telephone calls and diary management.

 Dealing with all clients, whatever their attitude, in a courteous and professional manner and where circumstances dictate, maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

 Ensuring the area appears tidy and welcoming to visitors, disposing of out date posters and literature etc.

 Ensuring students and visitors are signed in and out during the day, in order that attendance can be accurately monitored.

 Provide assistance to visitors who have meetings arranged, to locate their appointments.

 Assist with evacuation procedures in the event of the fire alarm sounding.

 Undertake a variety of other general administrative duties and to support the Administration Team when required.

The post holder will also be expected to undertake any other tasks as reasonably required by the Principal, Senior Leadership team or Governors to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Academy.
