Renaissance Faire Project Due: Monday, December 22nd The Faire will be held Monday 12/22 and Tuesday 12/23
Directions: You will use your research and the paper you write to create an explanatory poster and presentation for the class Renaissance Faire. Each class will put on a Renaissance Faire for students from the social studies classes, teachers, and other guests that are able to attend.
Required: 1. A poster that clearly explains and illustrates your topic to be displayed at the Renaissance Faire. (20 points) 2. A presentation, demonstration, or model created to present to visitors at the Renaissance Faire. (20 points) 3. A costume that reflects the Renaissance time period and the station of the character you embody from that time period. (Knight, Lord, Lady, Peasant, Squire, Town Crier, Priest, Jester, Royalty *chosen, Nurse, etc.) (10 points) **DO NOT spend a lot of money on your costume! We want to get into the spirit of the faire, but we do not want to break our piggy banks. There are many suggestions on how to dress economically we will discuss in class. Events: 1. Renaissance Faire (Monday 12/22 and Tuesday 12/23) 2. Jousting Competition-Gym (Preliminaries Monday during 7/8 & 9/10. Finals will be held 15th period on Tuesday. All students will be called down to the Gym during that period.) 3. Banquet Table for lunch 4. Alchemy and Renaissance Science with Mrs. Smith 5. Health class will provide the first aide for our “injured” knights during jousting 6. Class Royalty will be elected on Friday - They will preside over the Faire and the Jousting Competition 7. Each class will have a class crest and color to incorporate into their costuming/show class pride. 8. Renaissance Research with Mr. Thomas (wait until you see his costumes!) 9. Renaissance food tasting provided by Miss Wallace, Mr. Moyer, and Mrs. Smith during the faire. 10. Mrs. Sharp will be talking about the use of catapults and the mathematics involved.
*Students should wear their costumes to school on both days of the Renaissance Faire- Monday and Tuesday before Christmas break.
