Attachment 5 - UK UK COMMENTS ACCOMPANYING VOTE OF APPROVAL ON ISO/IEC 10646- 1/PDAM31, TIBETAN EXTENSION The UK approves the PDAM in SC2 N 3212 with the following comments. Technical comment: Note: This PDAM will cause the existing collection 72 Basic Tibetan (0F00-0FBF) in Amd.6 to be enlarged, since it will now contain eleven new characters in positions that were previously unused. This is an improvement. A separate Fixed Collection, to retain the existing specification, will not be needed. Editorial comments: Page 1: - The Editor’s Note is shown as “temporary”. However it would be very useful to keep it in the final text of the published Amd if possible. - The last subparagraph of the editor’s note implies that characters 0F3C & 0F3D were combining characters in Amd.6. However they are not shown in the Annex B list in Amd.6, although the code table shows dotted circles for these two positions - evidently a defect in the code table. This subparagraph should be split into two and reworded to clarify this point. Pages 2 and 4 (code tables: Tables 248 and 249) These tables should be added to the list of tables to which the “Unique spelling rule” for Level 2 applies, see SC2/WG2 N1796, clause 24.2. Page 4: In the character cells for positions 0F88, 0F89, 0F8B, the dotted circles should be removed since these character positions are not now combining characters (see list for Annex B on page 6). Page 6: At the end of the list of character names for Annex B, the entries for 0FBC & 0FBB should be interchanged. Page 7: An item should be added to indicate that the entry “Tibetan” in Annex N should be deleted, since Amd.6 did not include such an item.
Attachment 6 - US U.S. Comments supporting the Approval vote for the Consideration Ballot on SC 2 N 3212, ISO/IEC WD 10646-1/Amd. 31 Comments: The glyphs for characters 0F88, 0F89 and 0F8B must be corrected to remove the dotted circle.
