FERNVALE STATESCHOOL Parents and Citizens Association General Meeting Minutes 15 th Sept 2014

3. Business Arising from Previous minutes.  Shade structures for cross country/sports days– David discussed at Lowood Cluster Principals Meeting. Looking at bulk purchase with other small school. Possibly 3 in total.  Air Conditioning for Yr 3 and Yr 2 buildings (6 in total)- Jason in discussion with one company- VAE. Deal with large scale jobs so will subcontract FSS. Will need to split systems due to Year 2/3 classroom layout. Also looking at fans for Hall.  Present for Year 6 and 7 students- pens and certificates presented from school plus small gift from parent group on graduation night. Pins given to incoming senior students once leadership structure decided.  New cultural uniforms- discussed with Mr Coman- cost around $20- 30/uniform, shirts and shorts, 50 in total. Current uniforms 15+ years old. P&C agreed to cover costs.  Mobile phone for market coordinators- plan personal in Jason Wendt’s name. $25/month- nil extra costs so far.  P&C subcommittee- Adrienne written guidelines for group based on P&C constitution. Had first meeting- 8-10 mothers attended. No other feedback.

9. Principal’s Report-  Great Results Guarantee- FSS to purchase 90 ipads. P-2’s- 30; Year 3-4- 30; Year 5-6- 30. Total cost $50-60000  Swimming- Term 3 Year 4-7. Pool cost $2.60/child; Bus $3/child. P&C agreed to cover subsidy to keep cost/child around $4.00  School recently paid $10000 to fix fibre optic cable in old office building that was chewed by rat.  LED sign to be erected in holidays; Frosting admin windows/frosting honour board/3D logo at reception desk also to be done.  Oct 23rd- FSS having afternoon get together for the schools Indigenous families. To understand more about history/local community connections.  New State School Strategy- goals for improved student performance and standards 2014-2018  Discipline Audit- profile on website. Overall FSS received very positive feedback across audit criteria.  School will be informed of teacher tranfers this week.

10. Market Report-

 Issue with cleaning when market coordinators are not doing it. Will buy own mop and bucket so not using schools. Will do up guidelines and put up in shed.  Overall stall holders pleased  Asian food lady doing well. Beauty tent to start next few weeks  Tables and chairs- To use tables from hall and purchase new chairs  Patrons requesting new bench seat near top gate of school  Power usage ongoing issue- involved stall holders willing to pay school. ? possible to runs leads from prep class rooms. Not feasible due to health and safety aspect. David to investigate options further with Dee.

11. Tuckshop Report-  Convenors meeting last week  Attending Smart Choices Workshop on the 20th  Gere completed graph of predictions for 2015 monthly turn over- attached  Applying for grant $5000 for equipment- including air conditioning  ?Smoke detectors need to installed in tuckshop.

General Business-  Meeting minutes to be put onto Fernvale State School website- David needs to upgrade school website to do this  Applying for SMART grant for shade- $5-15000  Fans for hall- quotes to be given off plan by VAE  Online canteens- so parents able to order and pay electronically; orders are printed out in tuckshop as they come in. Gere to look into companies offering this service
