A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of Dr. Robert C. Webb, conservationist, outdoorsman, public servant. WHEREAS, Dr. Robert C. Webb has served the people of the Commonwealth for more than three decades as a member of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Commission, striving to protect Kentucky's wondrous natural beauty, and the wildlife that is a vital part of the cycle of nature. Representing the 8th Fish and Wildlife District, Dr. Webb has served through nine gubernatorial administrations, has served as Chairman of the Commission, and will complete his current term in August, 2006; and WHEREAS, During his tenure, the Commission has provided guidance and oversight for several highly successful wildlife restorations, including white-tailed deer which have increased from a herd of approximately 20,000 to nearly one million animals, ranking among the country's top four heads in quality; the Kentucky wild turkey flock which has grown from approximately 1,000 to 260,000 birds; and Kentucky has built the largest free-ranging elk herd east of the Rocky Mountains, with some 6,000 animals, after their absence from the state for 150 years; and WHEREAS, Dr. Webb has been a strong advocate of conservation education programs in Kentucky's public schools, and our conservation camps are attended by some 6,000 5th and 6th graders from across the Commonwealth each summer. This fine Kentuckian was honored with the naming of "Conservation Camp Robert C. Webb" on

Grayson Lake in Carter County, in recognition of his dedication to conservation of our natural resources. An avid sportsman, Dr. Webb especially enjoys quail and waterfowl hunting, will now have more time to devote to those avocations as he recently retired from his optometric practice after serving his community for fifty years; and WHEREAS, Dr. Robert C. Webb is married to Linda Webb, and the couple have been blessed with two children, Representative Robin L. Webb and a son, Robert Webb, as well as grandchildren Lindsay Combs, Troy Combs, John Webb, and Robert Coleman Webb, all of whom take great pride in the contributions of this honorable Kentuckian;

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives join with the Lady from Carter 96, in honoring her father, Dr. Robert C. Webb, for a lifetime of devotion to conservation and wildlife preservation. Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Dr. Robert C. Webb. Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Lady from Carter 96 for presentation to her father on behalf of the members.
