Post Title: Facilities Officer
Salary Scale: Scale 4
Post Ref: J2009 Assistant Facilities Manager (line manager) Responsible to: Senior Facilities Officer – as directed.
Department/Faculty: Estates and Facilities
Job Purpose To assist the Facilities Management Team to maintain an attractive, safe, clean and welcoming College, and a calm purposeful learning environment.
Post Key Duties
Monitor and operate building management, security and safety systems.
Carry out reactive and planned maintenance duties to enhance College premises.
Support the Facilities management team by liaising with and monitoring contractors.
Support security contractors in monitoring entrance barrier, patrolling buildings and implementing visible ID policy.
Write reports relating to incidents and other matters arising from the responsibilities of the post using IT.
Assist with accidents and emergencies that may affect the building, grounds or the staff, students and visitors using its facilities.
Provide cover at Merton sites, by arrangement.
Provide cover for Saturday opening, by arrangement.
Attend out of hours emergencies as directed by the Facilities Management Team. Carry out set up and porterage duties as required.
Undertake health and safety responsibilities as specified in the College’s Health and Safety document, and take action to ensure a safe environment
Undertake driving duties across various College locations.
An expectation that the post holder will join the campus first aid rota (training to be provided, an additional allowance is payable).

You will be required to carry out other duties as maybe commensurate with the post that do not change the character or purpose of the post and are necessary to maintain the high standards of business practice. The post holder will also participate in the promotion of Quality Standards and Assurance.
As an employee of the College Management Team, the post holder will be expected to participate in the formulation and implementation of College strategy and operational activity within the scope of the post. Actions of the post holder will have significant impact on the future direction of the College.
The post-holder is required to respect the confidentiality of matters relating to students and other members of staff. The post holder must be aware of and comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act (DPA)

1. Experience Experience of effectively carrying out facilities functions e.g. operation of heating A/I/R systems. Experience of operation and day to day running of buildings including knowledge I/R of security procedures and oversight of contractors. Awareness of Health & Safety requirements relating to the facilities function A/R
