Job purpose To provide specialist technical support and advice to a department and its external customers.

Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities % Time 1. To contribute to initial assessment of software and data needs of research projects regarding 5 % ADRC-E environments, data and software. 2. To set up and support datasets for research projects in ADRC-E secure environments, including 10 % receipt, loading, testing, archiving and destruction of datasets, maintaining full audit trail of data accesses and processing. 3. To contribute to multiple research projects being undertaken by the ADRC-E and others including 60 % by running and testing analysis code, briefing and supervising research users within physical secure laboratory and undertaking defined outputs clearance checks. 4. To contribute to dataset documentation and ADRC-E training and capacity building programme. 10 % 5. To liaise as required with ADRC-E partner institutions, stakeholders, research and administrative 5 % staff, observing working protocols and agreements and to ensure the security of data at all times. 6. To undertake security accreditation and ongoing professional development in support of ADRC-E 5 % activities. 7. To carry out management and administrative tasks associated with ADRC-E including 5 % participation in ADRC-E meetings and reporting. 8. Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder.

Internal and external relationships Responsible to ADRC-E management group for the overall delivery of excellent research support services in the ADRC-E laboratory environments.

Responsible to individual project leaders (ADRC-E co-investigators or external researchers) for research support provided to specific projects.

To work closely with other ADRC-E data scientists and other members of the ADRC-E staff team, coordinated by Senior Data Scientist.

Liaison with ADRC-E partner institutions and stakeholders in development and operation of protocols and working practices. Special Requirements This post is based at Southampton within the ADRC-E, which is part of FSHMS. The post holder will need to be available to work flexible hours and occasionally travel within the UK to meetings and other events.

To be available to work flexible hours in the University of Southampton secure data laboratory, as part of a team of researchers and data scientists, to ensure cover for periods when visiting researchers are present.

Necessary security clearance and accreditation to work in a secure data environment (to be applied for on appointment if not already held). PERSON SPECIFICATION
