About SFSSP:

The South Florida Student Shark Program (SFFSP) supports student career development in a variety of natural science disciplines, while promoting the conservation of coastal Floridian shark species, mangrove fish habitat and the Florida watershed through service learning, education and research.

Involvement:

The SFSSP is seeking support with field and laboratory work as well as to help supervise, train and lead high school students in the following activities:

1 In field fish seine net sampling 2 In lab fish sorting, identification, measurements and stomach content analysis 3 In field shark surveys, tagging and tissue sampling as well as stomach eversion 4 In lab fish ID & shark stomach content analysis 5 In field experiments

Commitment:

1 Day trips typically last about 5 hours and run from about 8 am to 1 pm or 1 pm to 6 pm 2 Night trips typically last about 4 hours and run from about 7 pm to 11 pm 3 Lab sessions are typically 3 hours in duration 4 Interns will need to commit to at least 3 field trips and 1 lab session per month Applicant Name: School Name:
