When the Armory moved to Niagara and Connecticut, the city remodeled the original into Convention Hall. J.N. Adam gave the Temple of Music’s organ to the City Convention Hall, and the city remodeled the stage to install it. CURRENT STATUS: Rite Aid and its parking lot. Buffalo, Jan. 29, 1906. I wish to call the attention of Your Honorable Body to that portion of Section 218, Chapter XII, of the City ordinances, reading as follows: “All seats in the auditorium excepting those contained in boxes, shall be firmly secured to the floor.” The City of Buffalo, as owner of Convention Hall, is one of the most persistent violators of this ordinance and evidently must continue so to be if the present arrangement of leasing the building for all purposes is continued. With “all seats . . . firmly secured to the floor” Convention Hall would no longer be available for balls, drills, exhibitions and other similar functions for which its ample floor space especially fits it and from which a large portion of its present income is derived. Without seats, no further use could be made of the stage and organ for concerts, operatic or other musical entertainments, and the hall would lose the patronage for which it was primarily intended. Under the circumstances, I think it advisable to bring this matter to the attention of Your Honorable Body, for such action as you may consider most desirable.
