1 APOLOGIES

1.1 New Committee Members

ER welcomed the new committee members to DCDS these members were elected at the AGM in May. Ian Bryce & Gillian Munro - Athletes Representatives Gary Porter - DPA Powerlifting

ER also asked the committee to formally co-opt Caryn Prophet as DCDS fundraiser. Proposed - Craig McMaster, Seconded - George Ferguson.

ER also spoke about the roles of committee members and stated that at the August meeting she will have a list of jobs for the committee members to take on, she also stated that the roles would be to support the work that the Disability Sport Officers already do and this is in direct response to Aprils meeting where Jamie McBrearty and Ross McGuire attended. 2 MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

These were approved by Craig McMaster and seconded by Brian Webster.

3 MATTERS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES

4.1 ER spoke to the rotary via Norman Gray and was informed that DCDS would receive the following: £500 for Rotary Football and £800 towards the minibus fund.

9.2 GF spoke to Sandy Cram at the ice arena and he has agreed to DCDS holding a skate-a-thon. GF will take this forward and organise. GF will report back to next meeting GF Aug 2010

11.2 GF informed the committee that the curling will start back on 4 September 2010. 1 sheet of ice has been booked. GQ asked for information to be passed to him so that he can post this on the web site. 2 No Item Action Date

4 FINANCE AND TRANSPORT

4.1 FINANCE

 Claire discussed the accounts and asked for any questions or queries.  Claire asked about the minibus fund and whether we should move the funds raised for this into the high interest account. This was CP Aug 2010 agreed.

5 CORRESPONDENCE

 SDS Lawn Bowls Entry Form  Wishaw Games Entry Form

Both these entry forms have been passed to the relevant people.

6 FAIRMUIR CLUB

Last club night was Monday 28 June 2010, the members had a dinner dance in Ollies Cafe, Olympia.

The club will start again at the replacement Kingspark School, the coaches will attend on the first night 23 August 2010 and the members will start back the next week 30 August 2010.

Andy McDermott will be required to sit his NPLQ, GQ will contact him as there is a course being held during the school holidays. Complete AMcD GQ Complete attending course.

ER discussed with the committee the need to replace the sports equipment at Fairmuir. It was agreed that ER & GQ get together and source and purchase the equipment required. Boccia sets, Football GQ/ER Aug 2010 Equipment etc.

7 AFFILIATED CLUBS FEEDBACK

Boccia - Club members attended the Scottish Open Boccia Championships 26 June 2010 at the Peak Sports Centre, Stirling. Hannah Craig achieved 3rd place. GQ asked for a report and if possible a photo to post on the website. CMcM ASAP

Curling -.Starts back September 2010.

Motor Activities - Last session 26 June 2010. ER discussed the funding of this group as it has come down to Disability Sport subsidising this and with the current and potential budget constraints GQ was concerned that the subsidy will be too much for the disability sport budget to cope with. ER has submitted a grant to the community health living fund and will hear about this after the holidays. ER asked the committee to approve meeting the shortfall if funding is not forthcoming, this was agreed too.

Swimming - Discovery Swimming Club now finished for a 3-week break. When they return they will be training for the Wishaw Games.

DPA Powerlifting - Club are training twice per week at present and are 3 No Item Action Date looking to enter a mainstream competition in September. Next British Championships in November in Leeds. DPA have 1 athlete attending the European Special Olympics in Warsaw.

8 DISCOVERY GAMES (17, 18 & 19 September 2010)

GQ informed the committee of the following:  All venues booked  Need to book First Aid for Table Tennis and Buffet for all venues.  Start to look at numbers of T-Shirts, Medals etc.

GQ also spoke about meeting Mary Chapman from Brae Horse Riding Centre and the discussion re including Equestrian in 2011 at Discovery GQ Ongoing Games, all committee members were in favour of this development and agreed to GQ taking this forward.

9 COMPETITIONS AND EVENTS

GQ informed the committee of the following:

 Beginners Swimming Gala 28 April 2010 - 90 Swimmers  SDS 5-a-side football Championships - 4 Teams from Dundee 2 c & 2d - Dundee College footballers were Scottish Champions Band C  Tayside Track & Field Championships 11 May 2010 - 90+ competitors  Rotary Football Festival - 120 from all over Tayside  SDS Junior Athletics - 20 athletes represented Tayside at this event, 1st time we have entered a team  Lawn Bowls 18 June 2010 - 25 Bowlers - 3 schools attended  8 Bowlers will represent Dundee at SDS National Event 4 September 2010  Tayside second in LD Swimming Championships, Tollcross.

10 DISABILITY SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

GQ informed the committee that the Sports Development were attending an in-service day on 30 June 2010. He also informed the committee that the Strategic review was being held 14 July 2010 in the Forum Meeting Room, Olympia.

During the summer holidays the following will be supported and organised by the Disability Sport Officers:  Summer of Sport  Horse Riding  Challenge Week  Gymnastics & Trampoline  Athletics

The football sessions at Soccer World will also continue throughout the 4 No Item Action Date summer and will be supported by the Disability Sport Officers.

11 FUNDRAISING

The following has been raised since May 2010 for DCDS

 Dinner Dance £314.29  Tablet Making (C Duncan) £100.00  Ten Pin Bowling £85.00

All the above will be banked against the minibus appeal.

The following were reported to the committee.

 ER and GQ had a meeting with the Peter Harrison Foundation to discuss the powerchair football proposal, ER & GQ to submit a 2 page report/proposal and submit this to the trust.  C Prophet informed everyone that she climbed Ben Nevis with family members and they have raised £300.00 for the minibus appeal.  Elaine Ross entered the Race for Life with sponsorship going to the minibus appeal

12 SPORTDUNDEE

No meetings held since AGM, no report

13 AOCB

 Disclosure Scotland - GQ informed the committee that the initial application has been submitted to CRBS. This will allow DCDS to disclosure check committee members and volunteers.  GQ informed the committee about the banners that he was getting made for the events etc. Due to the camera not being able to produce 320dpi the enlargements of the photographs was very poor. GQ asked the committee to consider purchasing a camera that was capable of taking this type of picture, after some discussion it was agreed that GQ could purchase a camera and related software up to £1000.00. GQ Complete  OCAR Returns have been handed in.  DCDS Newsletter, GQ informed the committee that the newsletter has been well received and also distributed widely. GQ would like this to a produced every 6 months, and asked the committee to submit any stories etc for inclusion. The next issue will be produced November 2010.
