Deliver us from the influence of the evil one, that we may live confident of the Easter truth, serving faithfully in Your kingdom of grace until at last You receive us into Your eternal kingdom of glory; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord; who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C: Amen.

Old Testament Reading Job 19:25-27

For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. 26And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, 27whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!

Epistle Lesson 1 Corinthians 5:6-8

Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8Let us therefore celebrate

4 the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

“The Feast of Victory” Lutheran Worship pages 161-164

Holy Gospel Mark 16:1-8

When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Salome bought spices, so that they might go 5 and anoint him. 2And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. 3And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” 4And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large. 5And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. 6And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” 8And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

P: Help us, in all things, to show forth Your praise. C: Fill our homes with the comfort and hope of this day.

P: Let the radiant beams of Easter light shine in the depths of our souls. C: Renew in us the Spirit of Him who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

P: Visit with Your divine presence those who are alone, those who are ill, those who are in need of our prayers. Watch over our military and all who serve in places of danger. C: We ask all of this in the name of our Risen Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
