This document is aimed to give a brief explanation of additional features and bug fixes that have been applied to the TT6120. An overview of each feature or bug fix is described along with the version where it was first introduced. 2 How to Install this Software

2.1 Read This First!

CAUTION… Upgrading a product will interrupt its normal operation. Ensure that the unit is not in use before commencing any upgrade operation.

Before starting, ensure that the programming procedure is well understood.

2.2 Hardware Requirements The TT6120 software can be upgraded using a standard RS232 cable and a PC with a COM port available. The PC needs to have a simple terminal software e.g. Hyperterm, ProCom Plus or any other program with support for 1K Xmodem file transfer installed.

2.3 Communication Parameters The following parameters are default on TT6120. (Note: These parameters can be altered in the menu system. Setup->Advanced->RS232 Setup->Remote) Bitrate: 115200 bits/sec Data Bits: 8 Parity: None Stop bits: 1 Flow Control: None The most efficient download is achieved using the 1K Xmodem protocol. Note that the TT6120 must be in ‘Local’ mode during download.

2.4 Procedure Connect a PC running HyperTerm or equivalent to the TT6120’s RS232 Remote connector using a standard RS232 cable (female in both ends). The terminal program needs to be configured with the parameters listed in chapter 2.1. Check that the F006> prompt appears when pressing enter on the PC. Enter the command reset and press and hold enter until the 7100=> is displayed. Enter the command do and press enter. The TT6120 is now waiting to receive new software. Using the PC software, download the f006_xxxx.ima file containing the new software. In Hyperterm this is done by entering the transfer menu, selecting 1K Xmodem and then giving the path to the file to be downloaded. When the download is complete, the TT6120 will automatically re-boot and activate the new software. The version of the active software can be inspected in the Properties menu. 3 Changes in This Release (5.2.2) The changes listed here are compared to the previously released software. This release will be used in production.

3.1 Additional Features There are no additional features in this release.

3.2 Faults Corrected

3.2.1 ATM AAL1 Input Alarms There was an issue which occurred when an ATM AAL1 card was used in receive mode with v5.2.0 MMI software which caused the alarm module to ignore any changes in card status. This arose as a result of functionality changes that were not picked up under test.

3.2.2 Drop ATM connection when ASI MPEG sync is lost This changes the functionality of the added feature from version 5.2.0. If there is an ATM output card in use and the input is removed causing sync loss, the byte clock on the ATM output is set to 0. This stops any framing and will cause downstream switches etc to go into fail. The output will restart when on re-sync or unit power cycle. There are one or two ‘features’ with the change: 1. When the option is switched from ‘Off’ to ‘On’, there will be a glitch in the output. This has always been a feature when changing options for the ATM card, but will be exacerbated because the output will be switched off. This should not be a huge issue, as it will only occur at setup time. 2. Only works with 45MBit DS3. (Card 7311, G008). Output card must have software version 2.001 (or 1.063 or greater if pre-V2). Input card version is not important. The menu option to enable/disable this feature will only be available if compatible software is found on the card. A message is printed at the debug prompt if this is not the case. This functionality was originally added on customer request and subsequently changed once their requirements were made clear.

3.3 Known Remaining Issues As with Version 5.2.0. 4 Changes in Previous Releases

4.1 Changes in This Release (5.2.0) The changes listed here are compared to the previously released software. This release will be used in production.

4.1.1 Additional Features Drop ATM connection when ASI MPEG sync is lost If there is an ATM output card in use and the ASI input is removed causing sync loss, the output VPI and VCI are set to 0, 0 in order to drop the current connection. They are reset to the correct values on re-sync or unit power cycle. This functionality was added on customer request. Privilege keys via RS232 Functionality to set and retrieve privilege keys via RS232 has been added. This is to facilitate the use of an upgrade wizard that will accompany the next release and all following. These commands can be accessed when in expert mode.

4.1.2 Faults Corrected AC-3 components are incorrectly displayed In DVB mode, AC-3 components were incorrectly displayed as ‘private’ in the TSP / Services tab. This has now been corrected. Linear PCM and AAC audio and H264 Video component support has also been added. Transparent mode Disable the ability to filter pids in transparent mode. It is now not possible to alter the content of the transport stream while the TT6120 is in transparent mode. Transparent mode is disabled if an output option card is fitted to the TT6120 that requires an upstream clock. Turn off QAM output when ASI output selected When the QAM modulator option card is fitted to the TT6120, the QAM modulator output is now disabled when the TT6120 is configured for an ASI output. Operation of unit when in Basic mode When the TT6120 is set to ‘Basic’ licence mode, the unit appeared to have some functionality of either ‘PID’ or ‘Service’ mode, however operation of the apparent functionality was incorrect. The unit now has the correct functionality in each mode, and will also default to Basic mode when defaults are applied. The problem with the unit being forced into ATSC mode when in Basic mode has also been corrected. Bitrate settings when using Quadcast on the IP card When using more than one output destination address on either the g036 or g076 IP card, the output bit rate could be set to exceed the maximum output rate of the interface card. The number of output addresses in use is now used to calculate the total bandwidth available, taking account of any extra overhead required. This has only been applied for the g076 card. 4.1.3 Known Remaining Problems Transparent Mode Fix a problem when upgrading the software on the TT6120 while the unit is set to transparent mode. The flash memory of the TT6120 becomes corrupted when upgrading the software, causing operational problems with the TT6120. The ability to set the playout rate of the service information (SI) to automatic should be added. This will force the TT6120 to playout the SI on the output transport stream at the same intervals as the incoming stream. The functionality has been added, but is currently untested and unproven, hence not in this release. Store Inverted/Non inverted IF setting Store the Inverted / Non inverted IF output setting on the 5980 QAM card. Write the parameter to flash memory so when the option card is reset the QAM output is restarted in its previous mode of operation. Service filter table Redesign the service filter table, so that all services are displayed within the table at all times. Currently depending on if Incoming Services Default is set to Transmitted or Stopped, either the enabled services are displayed in the service filter table or the disabled services are displayed. When enabling or disabling services using the service filter table, the service has to either be created in the table with all the relevant parameters initialised to the correct values, or the service has be enable/disabled and then service deleted from the table. This gives poor visibility of what the actual state of all services in the unit are set to, and also can lead to corrupted services within the TT6120. All services are to be displayed in the service filter table at all times with a parameter to either enable or disable the service from the output transport stream. PID and component filtering in service mode Currently depending on if Incoming Services Default is set to Transmitted or Stopped, it is possible to filter individual PID’s or components from services. Change the TT6120 functionality to act in a consistent manner to either always allow filtering or to always disable filtering when the unit is in service filtering mode. Event configuration using Cortex When using Cortex to configure a TT6120 with an IP output card fitted the output transport stream takes 30-60 seconds to become stable. After sending the configuration to the TT6120 the audio is corrupted for 30-60 seconds and the output of the IP option card plays out at 40Mbit/s instead of the desired bitrate. ARM based QPSK card Enable the new ARM based QPSK card to operate in the TT6120. The old QPSK card has component obsolescence issues and therefore manufacture of this card will shortly cease. Currently the new QPSK card is SPARP 3 only. An I2C interface is required to be added to the option card so that it may be used with the TT6120’s SPARP 2 interface. Will also require work on the QPSK card to add I2C drivers. EITs are not recognised in ATSC mode EITs are not recognised in ATSC mode; the only indication of the presence of any EIT PIDs is their inclusion in the PID list in the Services tab (although not indicated specifically as an EIT). This is due to the combination of lack of MGT decoding, and that the pid can vary despite EITs being system tables. This also results in RRT pids not being recognised. 4.2 Version 5.1.0 The changes listed here are compared to the previously released software. This release will be used in production.

4.2.1 Additional Features The unit’s serial number is required for licence upgrades, customers and customer service engineers have stated that it would be useful to display the units serial number on the front panel. The ability to set the time of TT6120 to the TDT supplied within the transport stream. Providing the customer with an easier way to set the ‘Unit Time’ and to produce the generation of more accurate fault logging. Correctly decode Mega-frame Initialisation Packets (MIP) from the transport stream and display within the TSP ‘Tables’ and ‘Services’ windows. For use within COFDM systems, to display MIP pids as System pids instead of un-referenced pids when they are present in the transport stream. Update the status panel to clearly display if the MPEG rate is displaying a bitrate based on 188 byte packets or 204 byte MPEG packets. Where 204 byte MPEG packets are being played out, implement the option to choose if a 188 or 204 byte calculation is displayed. During development of the new QAM modulator option card, a requirement for a 188 byte calculated MPEG rate for tuning to some equipment was needed, while a 204 byte calculation was required for interoperability with other equipment. The ability to set the ethernet port operation on the Pro-MPEG IP Tx and Rx option cards, to either 100 Base-T or to Auto negotiate from the web interface.

4.2.2 Faults Corrected When the Reset Statistic Counter option is selected on the Pro-MPEG option card interface menu, continuity count errors occur on the output transport stream. This is caused because when the ‘Activate’ button is press on the interface web page, all parameters for all input and output option settings are reloaded even if nothing has been changed.

4.3 Version 5.0.1

4.3.1 Additional Features Changed Received Packets, Lost Packets and Corrected Packet statistics on Pro- MPEG FEC Rx web interface to display a continuous count and not reset every time the values were updated. Added Statistic Reset option to Pro-MPEG FEC IP Rx card set up web page. IP Tx Pro-MPEG driver was expanded to include, Number of Packets sent, reset for number of packets sent and physical ethernet connection up time. IP Rx Pro-MPEG driver was expanded to include, continuous number of IP packets sent, continuous number of Lost packets, continuous number of Corrected packets, amount of input buffer utilisation (expressed as a percentage) and an appropriate reset for all of the above values. A physical ethernet connection up time pararmeter was also added. All of the new parameters for both TX and RX IP Pro-MPEG cards were added to the IP MIB structure. 4.3.2 Faults Corrected Display correct ethernet output bit rate after trying to set an illigal matrix size, when using Pro-MPEG FEC IP Tx card.

4.4 Version 5.0.0

4.4.1 Additional Features Integration of new Pro-MPEG FEC IP cards, g076 Tx and g077 RX. Added extra control parameters and display parameters to support the additional functionality of the new IP cards. Amount of memory available has been increased. This allows a higher number of services or pids to be processed by the TT6120.

4.4.2 Faults Corrected Fixed several memory leaks. When services were added and dropped if all the services were not dropped or they were not dropped in the order they were added, not all of the memory allocated for that service was de-allocated. Service filter table handling. The service filter table only displays either the enabled services or the disabled services at any one time depending on how the TT6120 is configured. It was possible to delete a service from a table without changing the services filter state first, i.e. from enabled to disabled. This would mean that the service was now lost from all tables and can no longer be turned on or off until the unit has been reset.

4.5 Version 4.8.7 QAMUPC Modulator Interface Bug fix. Stop unit output loss when communication was lost and regained by TDC.

4.6 Version 4.8.6 QAMUPC Modulator Interface Maximum output power level of the QAMUPC modulator changed from 121dBuV to 120dBuV due to -manufacturers specification change. Front panel bug fixed. When QAMUPC card is TDC controlled, changing from Annex A to Annex B -or vice versa, does not update the front panel correctly. Bandwidth menu should be -displayed for Annex A only and Interlever depth memu for Annex B only. Menu display does -not toggle.

4.7 Version 4.8.5 Internal release only.

4.8 Version 4.8.4

4.8.1 New features The TT6120 TSP Software Release 4.8.4 contains bug fixes to faults logged in Test Director under TT6000. There are no new features. 4.8.2 Faults corrected The following faults have been rectified in this release. The Defect ID is the reference number for the item in the Test Director Database. Web Pages Moved some Java script variables, and removed top. from variables in index.html (top.update_page -> update_page). Some versions of Internet Explorer used to give a "Permission denied" script error the first time the page was loaded, and you had to press refresh to get the page to load OK Moved some Java script variables, and removed top. from variables in index.html (top.update_page -> update_page). Remove old password if user come from a setting without password. (cgi_auth.c) TSP tree used to check edit access on view, now it only checks for edit access un update.(cgi_tci.c)

Web Server Changed access check: Now a valid password is needed (View or Edit) if the password check is enabled. Lowest level of edit access is same as "view". All passwords are accepted if the Username & Password are left blank.

Transparent Mode Improvements to the regulation algorithm. It was possible for the previous regulation algorithm to get stuck in state FLOW_TRACKING (1) with a output rate of 216Mbit/s.

PSI/SI Handling Replace PMT CA descriptor with DVB stuffing descriptor if ECM is filtered and the PMT is set to ‘Regenerate’. Version number handling for PSI/SI/PSIP tables updated. All tables in "transparent" mode will now be let through with version numbers and CRC's unchanged. The repetition rate will still be updated. The exception is the MGT table, which still is updated whenever a new table is downloaded to the unit. This is needed because of the version number signalling in the MGT. ATSC VCT tables are now analyzed to retrieve service names. Correct service names now shown in service tree. The SNMP agent has also been updated so that TDC shows correct service names. Service components with type 0x81 are now correctly decoded and presented as AC-3 audio components, both in WEB interface and TDC interface. In ATSC mode, an option has been included to retrieve the system clock from the incoming STT tables. Default repetition rates have been adjusted to be within the limits of the ATSC specification (A/65B). In Basic and PID modes, repetition rates are set to 10 times higher than indicated in the .SIT file after the unit is rebooted. Power cycle causes EIT, TDT & TOT Tables to disappear. NIT version number is modified when NIT Transparent mode is selected.

G703 Interface Handling Corrected startup bug that could result in invalid G703 configurations. Corrected bug in WEB interface related to presentation of G.832 framing mode for E3. Previous versions show this mode as M13 framing, an option that is not valid for E3. Verified difference between 4.5.0 and 4.7.0. 4.5.0 had a problem with "No response" from G703 modules. This has been verified to be fixed with a new I2C driver. Fixed a bug that could cause a deadlock and inability to change input interface. The error situation was typically caused by rapidly changing active input from DVB ASI to G703 and vice versa. Fixed bug that caused G703 boards to ignore global reset signal, e.g. G703 boards were not reset correctly when TSP board was reset.

IP Interface Handling TT6120 IP in ASI out signal loss after between 5 and 20 seconds. IP Rx TS dropout, believed to be caused by no nulls on input triggering VBR mode. IPNIC lower delay mode for lower bit rate operation (Restrict buffer size). Encapsulation Mode not indicated for IP Tx interface

ATM Interface Handling Ref. CALL 72472. The 'input rate mode' parameter for ATM AAL5 RX boards has now been added to the menu system / web interface.

SNMP / TDC Issues Updated variable for control of QAM modulator Spectrum Inversion. The SNMP MIB variable now refers to the spectrum inversion of the RF output, not the IF output. When spectrum inversion is disabled in TDC, the RF output spectrum will now be normal. Removed character table select character for start of service/provider name if present. TDC gets "no such name" snmp error when trying to set g703TxOutputRate for TTV E3/DS3. Other Issues SW versions newer than 4.5.3 had problems booting with a configuration consisting of ATM input, QAM output + the new 5780F version of the RF upconverter. A fix has been introduced in the I2C driver that makes the software handle the situation in a better way. If the error appears, the software retries until it succeeds. Note that when the error appears, the message as shown below will be printed to the debug interface: SYS--|WARNING: Entered NONE mode [i2cdmm_controller.c:383] The error becomes visible when the I2C bus in the shelf is loaded with several boards, but currently only seen when the new 5980F board is used together with ATM input boards. This issue is really an FPGA issue that needs to be addressed in a future software release.
