NEUROLOGISTS PART TIME STAFF SPECIALIST OR VISITING MEDICAL OFFICER Sutherland Hospital, South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Health Service Applications are sought from suitably qualified and experienced medical practitioners for Part Time Staff Specialist and/or Visiting Medical Officer positions in Neurology. While based at The Sutherland Hospital, this position is to be part of a networked Neurology Service across The Sutherland and St George Hospitals. Position Summary  Primary appointment is to Sutherland Hospital. 320-bed modern and well-designed community hospital 45mins easy drive from Sydney city centre with nearby shopping centres, beaches, national parks and international airport.  On site services include: Emergency Medicine, Aged & Extended Care, Rehabilitation, Oncology, Medicine (including Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Renal & Neurology), Surgery (including General, Orthopaedic, Vascular, Neurosurgery, Urology, Gynaecology, ENT & Ophthalmology), Obstetrics, Intensive Care, High Dependency, Psychiatry and Paediatrics.  Neurology Services are networked across Sutherland and St George Hospitals (the latter being a nearby major tertiary referral, trauma and teaching hospital).  On site EEG services and Stroke Unit.  Medical staffing in Neurology at The Sutherland Hospital includes: 1 part-time Neurologist + up to 4 SMP Neurologists, accredited medical registrar and JMO.  The on-call commitment is equitably allocated and dependent on number of participating consultants.  Participation in an on call roster across both the Sutherland and St George Hospital sites may be required.  Opportunity to provide EEG services and to further develop on site Neurophysiology services.  High level of private health insurance.

Key Selection Criteria Essential 1. Current NSW Medical Board registration or eligible for same. 2. Fellowship of RACP (Neurology) or equivalent specialist qualification. 3. Demonstrated relevant clinical practice at a high standard relevant to the years of experience. 4. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management. 5. Preparedness to participate in an on-call roster across two hospital sites. 6. Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development. 7. Demonstrated ability, fitness and wellbeing to fulfil the full scope of clinical privileges advertised in the position. Desirable 8. Expertise and interest in provision of Neurophysiology Services. 9. Expertise and interest in clinical management of patients with Stroke. 10. Demonstrated participation in teaching and training of undergraduate students and postgraduate clinical staff. 11. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 12. Demonstrated ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with evidence-based Best Practice . 13. Demonstrated involvement in research with a record of publication. Closing date:
