Greenlight Dumper with Top Values

Press release, 28 April 2017 Number of text characters: 3456 Page 1

Greenlight dumper with top values Payload of 30 tons and a Brinell hardness of 110

The Greenlight takes semi-trailer dumpers into a new dimension – for payload, stability and sustainability. It weighs in at only approx. 4000 kg with the basic equipment, and — in combination with a lightweight 6-tonne towing vehicle — offers a superior loading capacity of 30 tonnes. Its impact- and abrasion-resistant aluminium box trough achieves the highest Brinell hardness value in the industry: “We can guarantee 110 Brinell,“ says Managing Director Helmut Fliegl. “In the small-trough segment for gravel and aggregates, the Greenlight dumper offers a truly unique advantage. A Brinell hardness of 110 brings an extremely high added value and significantly increases the service life of the vehicle.” In addition, the special aluminium reduces the net weight of the semi-trailer dumper.

A core element of the Greenlight is the conical tipper trough, which is standard at Fliegl. The conical shape reduces air drag and rolling resistance and is one of the features that won it the European Transport Prize for sustainability. The cone-shaped trough is part of a comprehensive aerodynamics package which Fliegl has put together for its semi-trailer dumpers. It includes special air deflectors and the new membrane rear panel (with double-jointed hinge). The rear panel minimises turbulence in the area at the back of the vehicle. Altogether, these measures produce a Diesel saving of up to 8%. Further practical advantages of the Greenlight tipper trough are its low loading edge and the vehicle’s low centre of gravity. The angled trough front wall (21° angle of inclination) means added volume, supports quick and complete unloading and optimises the vertical load.

The curved chassis – an extremely flat chassis neck with a frame only 18 cm thick, with no corner areas and in lightweight construction – lowers the net weight of the trailer and increases the payload. At the same time, it boosts stability, as the vertical forces are optimally bundled and transferred to the fifth-wheel coupling. On the underside of the curved chassis, there is a steel guide which is arched slightly upwards, simplifying hitching and preventing damage. The rounded shape also makes manoeuvring easier, as, with no corner areas, there is more room for the tractor unit to move. The entire lightweight chassis is designed for stability. Fliegl has modified the step platform at the front end of the tipper. It is now no longer directly on the outside of the trough, but bolted to the thick-walled shell of the HYVA tipping cylinder. This reduces the overall height of the vehicle when the trough is tipped, which is of particular advantage in tunnels and underpasses, under bridges or in halls. The connection lines do not

protrude into the tipping angle and can therefore not be damaged during the tipping operation. Fliegl is the only manufacturer to position the connections where the driver can reach them without crawling under the vehicle.

Further new details:  A pull-out ladder in the centre of the step platform, allowing access from the left and right.  Holder for connection hose  Non-slip safety tread on the step platform  Holder for shovel and broom  Adapted attachment holding the rear under-ride protection in the optimum position  Optimally protected lighting units  Air tank fitted as a cross-member

Greenlight is a chassis and trough construction strategy which Fliegl Trailer will continue to follow consistently in future. Greenlight is applied sustainability.

INNOVATING FOR YOU: Sustainable production, sustainable vehicles

Sustainability is a priority for Fliegl right from the production phase of its trailers and semi-trailers for construction, haulage and logistics. Design, production and assembly take place in one central location; this reduces CO2 emissions caused by long-distance transport between factories. Fliegl’s state-of-the-art trailer plant in Thuringia has a positive energy balance - energy production there exceeds the plant’s own requirements. Fliegl operates a cogeneration power plant and has installed large-scale photovoltaic plants; the trailer plant is heated using wood chips and waste wood.

The vehicles are painted in a high-efficiency, resource-conserving plant, and energy-intensive baking processes are not necessary. To further cut energy consumption, Fliegl has invested in pulse-welding machines and fibre laser systems, and the hall lighting has been completely converted to LED. The new high-bay warehouse feeds expended energy back into the system. When purchasing vehicle components, Fliegl places priority on the acceptance of full truck loads, ensuring that deliveries are effected with an optimum workload.

Fliegl’s vehicle concepts are based on a sustainable product philosophy (excerpt). Lightweight construction has high priority, so that Fliegl achieves top values for trailer weight – which produces benefits when it comes to payload and CO2 emissions. The Fliegl Quick Lock system generates an aerodynamic advantage for curtain-sided semi-trailers. This is achieved by eliminating protruding buckles, resulting in a completely level curtain surface. Semi-trailer dumpers from Fliegl are fitted with an aerodynamic conical trough as standard and constructed with a curved chassis featuring a round neck and an extremely flat frame - the dumper does not extend above the tractor unit. Wind deflectors and the innovative membrane rear panel also reduce air resistance. Fliegl is the only manufacturer to set the tracking of all trailers individually and precisely by laser - reducing the rolling resistance and wear on the tyres. Ecology and sustainability - Fliegl Trailer takes them seriously. www.fliegl-fahrzeugbau.de
