Workshop at Bealiba went very well and PCAV was happy with the number of participants. Thank you to Bealiba Pony Club for hosting the workshop and the grounds were presented beautifully. Club visit was conducted at Castlemaine Pony Club and the club is up and going with a positive outlook. PCAV State Games, Flat & Musical Ride Championships Games 3 Teams (Bealiba A, Bealiba B & Maryborough)

Midland Zone Minutes 19.06.2012 Flat (Team of 4) 2 Teams (Bealiba A & Bealiba B) Musical Ride 4 Teams (Bealiba A, Bealiba B, Bealiba C & Stawell) All Teams competed well and were great ambassadors for the Midland Zone. There was some great success in the Flat and Musical events with Bealiba Teams bring home sashes. State HT – 2 riders from the Midland Zone competed. Grade 1 Harriet Eaton (Bendigo Pony Club) Grade 2 Toni Weir (Bealiba Pony Club) Well done to both these riders for a great effort over the 2 days.

Speed to Safety This State event has been started up again and the Midland Zone will try to organise a training and qualifying event. Adult Membership at Pony Club PCAV has allowed an adult membership category at Pony Club. This will give Adults 24/7 insurance and exempt them from paying the day attendance fee at Competitions/Clinics etc. It is each clubs individual choice if they will allow this membership at their Clubs.

Miss Kay Irving Games Competition Kaye Blanchard spoke about the introduction of the team of 6 games competition. Miss Kay Irving started this games competition to give riders on the average “Pony Club” mounts the opportunity to compete in a PCAV State event. The main idea was for riders who would never make it to the higher level of Eventing, Dressage or Show Jumping the chance to be a part of a team and to ride at State level. The Teams are made up of 3 age groups and younger riders can ride up a level but older riders cannot ride below their age group. A 7th rider (Junior) is included to allow substitution on the day.

There is now a push to bring this competition in line with the National Mounted Games (Prince Phillip Games) format where teams are made up of 4 to 5 riders and compete in Junior and Senior age groups. PCAV riders can try out for NMG squad selection and from there Victorian selection for the PCAV Nationals. The NMG is a organisation/competition run using the Prince Phillip Games outside of the PCAV boundaries. A survey has been put out on line and via the PCAV newsletter to seek opinions on changing the games format.

Kaye raised concerns regarding the coercion to change the games format and how it will adversely affect riders and clubs in the Zones where the NMG competition is not prominent.

 The next Zone event is the Zone Flat Team & Show Jumping event being held at Donald Pony Club. Programs are ready to send out. Concerns were raised regarding the flat ride as there were some errors. The ride will be sent to Beryl for correction and adjustment where needed.
