1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 10 11 TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE GREENWOOD 12 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM ON ITS UNDEFEATED 13 150 SEASON AND IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2012 CLASS 14 AAAA DIVISION II STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. 15 16 Whereas, after more than fortyeight minutes of regulation time on 17 December 1, 2012, the Greenwood High School football team’s 18 wait for a coronation was over, and they had captured the Class 19 AAAA Division II State Championship title, defeating 20 Northwestern 3124; and 21 22 Whereas, as the team received its fourteenth championship trophy, 23 WilliamsBrice Stadium in Columbia echoed with the shouts of 24 exuberant Greenwood fans, who realized with pride that their 25 seniors were walking away with fifty career victories, three region 26 championships, and the first fifteenwin season in the traditionladen 27 history of Eagles footballa class act; and 28 29 Whereas, the Eagles wanted to get the job done, and there was no 30 better test of their desire to win than Greenwood’s stirring 20play, 31 97yard play that lasted for more than ten minutes. Their 32 determined grit led to a fairytale ending for the Eagles; and 33 34 Whereas, such victories do not come overnight; they take 35 determination and hard work. With proven consistency in both, 36 Coach Gene Cathcart has built his football program into a 37 championship team that refuses to settle for second best; and 38 39 Whereas, the Eagles have brought great pride and recognition to 40 their school and community, and the members of the General 41 Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to salute such a 42 wonderful group of young athletes. Now, therefore,

[3336] 1 1 2 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 3 concurring: 4 5 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this 6 resolution, recognize and congratulate the Greenwood High School 7 football team on its undefeated 150 season and impressive win of 8 the 2012 Class AAAA Division II State Championship title. 9 10 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 11 Coach Gene Cathcart and Principal Beth L.
